Any suggestions for my friend? She can't get that .mov to play in either firefox or IE.
I've tried reinstalling quicktime, deleting the quicktime plugin for firefox, and messing with the MIME settings for QT.

Yes, but that's a workaround and not a solution 3/16/2010 8:29:51 AM |

i suppose.... http://wiki.videolan.org/Windows , apparently theres a vlc plugin for firefox (after a couple minutes googling)
Quote : | "Install
There are at least two ways to install the VLC Mozilla Plugin. One way is to to check the "Install Firefox Plugin" when you install VLC.
If the standard exe installation does not install the mozilla plugin directory then download zip version which includes the required data and continue with the next installation (2nd way of installing of the plugin)
The second way involves several steps:
1. Quit Firefox or Mozilla
2. Copy the two files in VLC_Installation_folder\mozilla (usually C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\mozilla) to your mozilla plugins directory (Usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla\plugins or C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins).
3. Restart Firefox or Mozilla
Use the plugin
If you open a link to a video file handled by the VLC plugin (To get the list of handled types, browse to about:plugins) or a page with an embedded video, the plugin should open and read the video. " |
i dont know if this will solve your/her problem, but it sounds promising3/16/2010 9:08:07 AM |

***UPDATE***
Tried both opening .mov in VLC as well as using the VLC firefox plugin. Now the vid just sits at video loading indefinitely. 3/16/2010 10:10:42 PM |

Can someone with QT Pro paste the source code for the original link? Thanks 3/16/2010 10:39:27 PM |

VLC can’t play QTVR files.
And there’s no “source” for that link, because that’s the actual file.
You can try downloading it, and changing the file extension to QTVR. 3/16/2010 10:56:52 PM |
