...to change my nickels and dimes to quarters.

This is what it's come to.

Leave it to a drink machine to make a man with a ten-dollar bill feel broke.

So to feel better about not having 75 cents for a soda, I should spend $4.00 on a 12-pack?

yea. .30/ea. from the gstore in advance is better than .75 only if you have correct change because you eliminate the chance of not being able to have a drink when you want it

[Edited on July 19, 2010 at 12:59 PM. Reason : and you save money]

[Edited on July 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Reason : and you can use the gstore trip as an excuse to use their coinstar]

If I want to have my money tied up in 12 drinks, yes. If I want one soda from the machine once a month, 75 cents is a better deal. It's all about opportunity cost, yo—what else could I spend my money on that I'd derive more utility from?

Plus, you can sell 8 of them to your coworkers for $0.5 dollar bucks each.
Then you get 4 FOR FREE!

You open the two-liter, it goes flat before you can drink it. At least with the cans, the volume you don't drink immediately isn't going flat.

this still implies that a 12 pack of soda impacts your budget significantly

You open the two-liter, then drink it before it goes flat.

I'm not opening a two-liter and forcing myself to drink it before it goes flat. I drink soda on my terms, not the soda's terms. I will not bend to the tyranny of the soda.

you can drink it over a couple/few days if you keep it tightly capped and in the fridge... Keep all them little carbon dioxides from escaping

but if you are just after caffeine, maybe you could grow a little guarana plant in your herb garden and chew a quid when you are feeling sluggish

Pepsi 12packs are 3 for $10 at the Harris Teeter currently.
