I, personally, had some good reasons to purchase my iPad, and I use it daily at work. I found it to be a tool that fits my needs, and I like using it. I don't consider it to be an idiotic purchase, but to each his own.

totally depends on your lifestyle, devices you already have, and what you are looking for in a "tablet" like device. I can certainly see some people finding use for it while I myself have had trouble thinking of anything I would use it for that I can't already do. Just personal preferences.

Actually the bf pre-ordered the iPad 3G which he will use to replace his work laptop as it's easier to show clients specs and charts, etc. Also because at the end of the day he can sync all his files wirelessly to the iMAC he has. Apple wins.

It's lighter, compact (his work one is chunky annoying), and yeah pretty baller to show off to potential clients. Also with 3G he will have internet access anywhere whereas his laptop is wifi only.

what's that webhost that syncs your files with your home computer and you can access it from anywhere? dropbox or something like that? they win.

you can tether, perhaps against your contract, using your phone and that laptop too. also pretty simple

3g access is spotty on At&T's network if you haven't been paying attention to verizon's commercials. So if there is no 3g coverage, will it revert to whatever the iphone uses to pick up internet or will it not have internet at all?
