Drive By Trucker's New Album, The Big To Do.
http://www.drivebytruckers.com/

I really enjoyed it. Normally, I prefer Cooley's tunes, but Hood and Tucker really kick ass this go around.

Favorite Songs:
Daddy Learned to Fly
Fourth Night of My Drinking
(Its Gonna Be) I Told You So

Anyone else pick it up? My wife bought it for me this week. She's awesome.

it's a great album. It took awhile to grow on me because i too am naturally more drawn to Cooley's tracks and he's only on 2, maybe 3 on this record. But once you listen to it a few times in its entirety i feel like it flows exceptionally well. To me it's an example of the sum being better than the parts.

Daddy Learned to Fly
Birthday Boy
Get Downtown

those are my three favorites.

btw, they are playing two shows next week in Asheville.

Good album. Looking forward to their tour with Tom Petty this year (but I think they're only playing with him in the Midwest/Northeast, so sorry NC). I don't like it as much as The Dirty South, but it's pretty solid.

^^ Yah, I heard. At the Orange Peel. We thought about going because we are from the area and its a great venue. But I don't think we'll be able to do it (work + school). But I'm sure it will be a great show. We saw them a month or so ago at the Lincoln Theatre and the new songs work even better live (especially Daddy Learned to Fly and I Told You So).

if i remember correctly, i've been told cooley is the better guitar player/song writer of the band. agreed? i've only heard a few tracks from various album so i can't really comment.

I mean it depends on how you want to approach it. Cooley is by far the more prolific guitar player and Patterson Hood has no problem admitting that. But their song writing styles are completely different and that's what makes this band great and have lasting appeal. Hell a lot of people still say Jason Isbell was the best song writer of the 3 and he really helped the band grow as a whole.

Honestly, like I said, i'm more drawn to Cooley's songs but both are great writers and the band wouldn't be near as good if it was just one of them, they play too well off one another.

BTTT. No reason to really create a new thread

New Album out this week. These songs were actually recorded during the same session as The Big To Do, but the band felt they had a different vibe and decided to split the session into two albums.

Go-Go Boots

So far i'm digging it.

I really am enjoying Ramon Casiano, Ever South and Once They Banned Imagine.

I had no idea that the guy who made the NRA into a massive lobbying group was basically George Zimmerman. Thanks for making me look up Ramon Casiano, Cooley!
