Hey hey hey! What is this mess? Look, I know the Canes aren't in it, but we have standards and practices here. Unless Vulcan91 comes in here and gives his blessing (as well as a damn good reason why he didn't make one) this thread will be considered an abomination!

Oh, and fuck Versus.

Anyway, I always make a bracket for my friends and me to use, so if anyone wants a decent looking bracket, you can get it here. Just figured I'd share.

Two days until the best time of the year. I'm not gonna get any shit done for the rest of the semester.

I would prefer the Pens games to NOT be on Vs so I could watch it on FSN. Plus I have Gamecenter, and now I have to go find someone with cable to let me watch the games (at least until school is out). I suppose the league would like to have as many games as possible on national tv, but I'd like them not to cover at least one Pens game for my own personal reasons

The versus announcers suck, especially Beninati who we always seem to get. Last year I pulled up the Pens radio feed, plugged it into our sound system at home, synced it up with our DVR and listened to Mike Lange and the ol' two niner do the games.

The ONLY series that doesn't have ANY games on Versus is the Devils/Goons. The Pens/Crapitals/sometimes Bruins lovefest is sickening. I hope both of those teams lose in the first round.

East
Crapitals
Devils
Slugs
Senators

West
Sharks
Blackhawks (sorry Preds)
Kings
Coyotes

I mean, can you blame VS for wanting to show Pens and Caps instead of the Devils in this case? Sure, I get sick of them and NBC really only showing those 2, the Wings and Blackhawks, but let's face facts, PIT and WAS play an up-tempo game with Crosby, Geno, Ovie, Backstrom and Semin being 5 of the top 15or so players in the league. Compare that to the Devils slower tempo approach and less well-known players/superstars. Which will likely draw more viewers?

But it isn't an either/or. It's an every other series has at least two games on Versus and we have 0. Hell, just having Zach, Marty and Kovalchoke on tv will get an abundance of views. Oh well.

I just don't see Brian Boucher winning a playoff series. If he gets hot, though, who knows how far the Flyers could go.

^^I agree that they should show at least 1 game from every series, but they're thinking of who will get higher ratings. And while Parise was THAT DUDE in the gold medal game, people aren't gonna tune in to watch that whining, sister-in-law fucking goalie, nor will Kovalchuk be a draw (see: Atlanta)

Although I will be pulling for the Coyotes and Predators to go as far as possible. In the east I dont care as long as Buffalo and Washington don't win. Boston and Pittsburgh I don't want to win as well, but on a lesser level than the other 2

^^ what insight. they picked the higher seed to win every single series except the WCF, which i'm guessing is because they'd have been too confused to pick between the two 1-seeds in the final.

anyone picking phoenix is no one to listen to... sure they COULD beat detroit with a miracle. but to say they are the most likely to win that series is beyond an atrocious absence of hockey knowledge

if you've watched Phoenix play this year, you'd know they have a chance. Would I bet my paycheck on them winning the series? NOPE, but I damn sure wouldn't bet it on Detroit either. I'm really impressed with the way Phoenix plays a system that applies pressure in all 3 zones without employing any sort of trap. The players seem to all know their roles, don't try to do too much, and they have the Bryz doing a great job in net.

I got two tickets to game 4 of the Flyers series for $40. They are 200-level and I get free concessions! Only problem is I hated the Flyers when I was growing up. Also I liked the way those old Scott Stevens Stanley Cup teams played, even though I detest the state of NJ. I'll just go and try to enjoy some playoff hockey I guess.

Caps game 1 tickets were going for $65 on Stubhub today so I picked up a pair just to say I was there in case they win the cup. Prices for the rest of the games were jacked up over $100.
