but seriously, is there any way to restore the RAID to normal status? the system is still sort of functioning...

that doesn't really make sense - if both drives in a RAID-1 set are missing/failed, then the array can't exist. maybe your tool is just saying the whole array is degraded because one disk failed?

actually, it's even weirder than I expected. The guy who set it up set up TWO RAID-1 arrays... WITH ONE DISK IN EACH. idiot. He did it on a couple of other machines, too. I only figured it out when I cleared the array(s) and built a new one and only one item showed up in the list. I think he mirrored the arrays from within Windows, but I have no way to prove it at this point, as I've wiped the drives now.

The odd thing is that the data was actually on both drives. I have no idea how he accomplished this with me still being able to read the files via Acronis.

What's the best way to setup a simple 2 drive mirrored RAID on a system with a version of XP that doesn't support Intel RST if I want to keep the data on the current non-RAID C: drive? Just looking to have the 2nd drive / D: drive continuously sync'd with the C: drive. Post-lightning strike mobo replacement blues...
