Let's pause for a minute and realize a couple of undeniable truths. There are plenty of people on scout/rivals free boards that never saw the inside of an algebra class. In the state of Kentucky, long division could be a stretch. These sewer rats also could care less that Calipari's two previous head coaching positions have resulted in final fours being vacated, not one, two. Educated folks consider other things in college besides wins and losses, these "fans" don't, that's why they ae perplexed. I usually let a lot of things slide character wise, but the kid who was in the backseat during a drive by in high school sort of through up a red flag to me (Tyreke Evans?) in Cal's recruiting.

CJL's family can come to every single home game and the Duke/UNC games by traveling less than 40 minutes. Keeping mama happy is a huge part of recruiting, moreso with football than basketball, but a factor nonetheless. I would think Kentucky has plenty of "never left the county while I sit in my rocking chair with my shotgun" types so they should certainly understand the proximity issue.

Another aspect is Cal's job status. When this Russian billionaire forks over 10 mil per year, who's he going after? Wall was a top 3 pick out of high school regardless, Cousins was top 10 and has played himself to #2. Favors was top 5 out of high school and he went to Georgia Tech, and it hasn't affected his draft status one bit.

^, UNC has much bigger fish to fry, Duke is going to be much more athletic, and much deeper. UNC still has Larry Drew, or an 18 year old to lead them over NCAA champions Duke? Unc's incoming class is terrific, but this PG is not Felton or Lawson, but I fully expect them to finish 2nd in conference at 11-5 while Duke is 14-2
