More importantly, that was a seminfinal game before the finals, and receiving a red card meant that the player was suspended for the next game (which would be the finals).

FIFA is considering instituting instant replay into football, but AFAIK (and correct me if I'm wrong one of you other watchers) they haven't done it yet. Critics say it would take away from "the spirit of the game."
