Yup, saw the tv ad...I hope they have some quality cooks for a change, and I hope they don't smoke lol. The routine smoke fest after leaving the kitchen annoys me.

you people are really excited about this dull shit? I enjoyed seasons 1, 2, and some of 3, but after that, i couldn't stand watching it anymore.

You should've seen the guy trying to square off with Chef Ramsay last season. Some ex-military dude who wanted to prove he didn't take shit from anybody. Haha that was funny. I still enjoy the whole great cooking/calling people stupid donkey thing myself.

Well, minus the farmer, at least the occupations of the contestants are cooking related. Mostly line cooks, sous chefs, and personal chefs. So none of them should be grossly incompetent.

I'll probably watch the first couple of episodes, get bored with it, and then stop. I really wish they would actually get some talented cooks, kinda like Top Chef. They get a handful of decent cooks, some private chefs/caterers, and some people who look like theyve never held a knife before and expect them to be able to run a high-end restaurant by the end of the season? stupid

The dude that loves "buthering animals" and wants to win the show to buy 2 walk ins for his meat is a creepy fellow.

I still watch this show, but it obviously setup for tv entertainment. There are always 5 or 6 retards on there that are just cannon fodder for Ramsey to rip apart. The thing I hate is that the show is rigged (to a point). He always manages to keep a couple of complete incompetents around way past when they should've been eliminated in order to keepthe drama level up. Also, the show always manages to keep the number of men and women equal throughout the show. If too many of one gender are eliminated then what do you know, the next couple eliminations will be from the opposite gender. Also, the inevitable late in the season switch of problem cooks to the other team is really played out.

PS. Bring that morbidly obese dude back again so he can have several more heart attacks on camera and then be eliminated for being a shitty cook.

^^ I think you mean "butchering" but yeah that guy is really creepy. I'm pretty sure he said flat out "I like to butcher animals." Interesting to see the lengths Chef Ramsay will go to in order to keep his guarantee. It also seems pretty easy to figure out who will be going home the next couple weeks, but what else is new.

Andrew, the farmer who loves butchering animals, is "from" Wake Forest (Yankee transplant)...

I've thought about the quality/lack thereof on the participants on this show vs. Top Chef, and here's my opinion: the people on HK are given their own restaurant (or head chef job) which is 2 or 3 steps above most of their current jobs. On TC, they compete for $$. The way I look at it is would someone be more likely to leave their job for several weeks if they are already a chef at a premier restaurant or if they're a line cook. It's like who plays the lottery? the rich or the poor?

Then there's the whole FOX picks people for drama/demographics/etc...

I've never watched Top Chef, so I'm not really going to comment on that show. But what I like about this one is Ramsay yelling and losing his cool every week, the drama between him and the other contestants as well as with each other, and watching people utterly break down. It's a solid formula for this show that keeps the ratings steady enough to keep renewing it. Just wash, rinse, and repeat.

It's almost like a night time soap opera with real people. Fox tends to go for the heavy drama angle with their reality shows and of course, you know some of it is scripted. Even Ramsay is playing a glorified somewhat amped up version of himself. Did anyone see that live show he did with the celebs cooking?

The end result, who gets what, isn't what shows like this are really about imo. I mean, who really gives a crap about how these people's lives change as a result of winning? I never look any of them up afterwards. I'm just along for the ride!

I don't think I've ever seen one side fail every night. Not even moving the guys into the red kitchen is working. It is very possible the last 4 or 5 chefs will all be guys.

What I find most interesting in this show is the illustration of charatcer flaws...

Scott is a great example. Way over confident, too arrogant, and his leadership style isnt very good, despite his own opinions on it. Fairly obvious to everyone watching. You would think when he was essentially given another chance by switching teams to start over, he falls into the same trap all over again.

Autumn seems to have learned to some degree, at least through one service. Not quite a vocal, and just concentrating on cooking.

Scott was such a pompous jerkoff, it wouldn't surprise me if he was a plant. I mean, he had to know that interupting the girl when she was explaining herself to Ramsey would assuredly get his ass kicked off the show. It's like one of the show producers pulled him aside and said "okay, it's time to be the biggest jackass possible."

Poor Ed getting put on the red team.

I don't think I've ever seen so many ties in a season for group challenges. Tonight's eliminations were no shocker, but I definitely would've preferred Holli getting naked in the hot tub instead of Ed.

there is definitely a weak showing of "chefs" this season, none of them really seem very good

If I had to guess, right now I think it's going to come down to Jay and Holli. And with the sexual tension they are building between them, it may be done on purpose as a ratings boost for the finale...

Is it just me or is Hell's Kitchen this season seem like Big Brother with some cooking? Every time they show them getting ready in a dorm, its always Holly or Autumn putting their shirt on, and the spa challenge reward where the camera was sitting on Autumn's rack for like 5 minutes... Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind this one bit, but I just think they are stooping to lower levels to attract an audience...

+1 for getting rid of Ben the douche

I would like to see Holly win, though Jay probably is a better fit for an executive chef.

yeah it seems like it's stooped a little low to get more people to watch. I liked it when it was just all yelling and screaming

I think the entire group that's left is weak honestly.

This

And, I like to pick a chef in the first two episodes that I think is the best cook. This season, I picked Ben. I wish I hadn't, he is a HUGE douche.

Please notice that I called Jay as the best chef from the very beginning. Perception ftw.

Holli is great, but Jay still has that edge over everyone else.

Ben is a better cook than Holli, but he is a massive whiny, bitchy douche.

Jay should win unless he completely fucks up nest week. He ran the pass a hundred times better than the other cooks last night.

Thoughts on the finale?

Based on the dinner service, I thought Jay was going to win. I wonder what was on the customer comment cards. Holli did well too; I just thought Jay had it.

Also, I know someone mentioned it above, but I love how for the past SEVERAL weeks they've managed to throw in a shot of Holli either in a bikini or without a shirt on.
