I had to make a thread to talk about some of the ridiculous stuff he says on his radio show. Treetwista and I were talking about his radio show in the nba playoffs thread the other day, and I was about to do it again now, but figure he needs his own thread

This morning on his show on 99.9 The Fan, he said that he would rather have Rasheed Wallace on his team in the playoffs than Kevin Durant. He tried to justify that ridiculous statement by saying that Sheed has more experience and knows how to play in the playoffs, while Durant is too young and doesnt know how to be a role player during a championship run

Its shit like that that makes me change the radio station. He also started talking shit about Phoenix fans because they thought they had a chance to beat the Lakers once their zone defense won them a couple of games. I love how he trashes the losing teams fans AFTER the series is over, acting like the verbal diarrhea he is spitting out has been his opinion since before the series started.

he's by far the worst national sport radio host. He knows college football pretty well, but when he talks about that, he's a USC honk. Other than that, he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

I will admit that I listen to him on a regular basis and somewhat enjoy the "devil's advocate" banter. Maybe its just me, but its nice to hear someone say things that aren't geared towards pleasing the masses and doubling their ratings... that being said, maybe that is his goal. JMHO

as I have said before, Cowshit's show boils down to this:

1. he takes an unpopular or weird or counter intuitive viewpoint
2. he runs it into the ground, repeating this shit out of his point for about 45 min
3. takes a few phone calls, and either cuts them off, or tries to make it sound like they said something they didnt, just to prove his original idea
4. he takes a few phone calls from people agreeing with him on the topic to show that he has "won over" or convinced the masses
5. repeat

People don't understand that he exaggerates to make points.

Example: He said that he thinks Brandon Marshall is the best football player in the NFL. Obviously he doesn't really think hes THE best, but what hes trying to get across is that Marshall is an amazing player and one of the top receivers in the game, even though he is often overlooked.

And with the thing this morning, he was just trying to make the point that he thinks Durant is overrated and a selfish player, who only cares about scoring, while Sheed knows how to be a team player.

If not, that makes zero sense. if you say someone is the best at something, that means you think they are the best. No, not really. It was on SportsNation a while back. They got a tweet about Marshall or something, and he just goes out and says, "Okay, let me tell you something. I might get some hate for this, but Brandon Marshall is the best Football Player in the NFL." He really emphasized the "Football Player" part, which leads me to believe that he was trying to just make a statement about what an athletic freak Marshall is, and how great of a player he is despite being underrated due to his off the field issues.

I like the 2 For The Road segment, I like spanning the globe, etc, and I agree with him sometimes and he sometimes makes me laugh...sometimes the common opinion is wrong and he calls them out

the only thing I will say is that ever since Sportsnation started his radio show has gotten much worse. His counterpoints and analogies have become so convoluted that they really make no sense and it seems like he spends most of the hour trying to convince himself.

but i think i'd rather listen to the herd over the Frank and Buck show any day. I'd rather listen to pig get butchered more actually.

i think the last time i listened to him was a couple of months ago. he was using the fact that roy halladay had a good april in the NL after switching from the AL, and javier vazquez had a terrible april in the AL after coming over from the NL, to prove "NL is vastly inferior to the AL". of course, whenever a caller made the valid point that "hey, of course pitchers are going to do better in the NL than AL due to the lack of a designated hitter", cowherd would respond "WELL, THE NL NEEDS TO GET WITH IT, PITCHERS HITTING ISN'T EXCITING. ALL THESE NL CALLERS ARE STUPID..." ignoring that they had a valid point. i mean, i even agreed with him that the NL isn't as good as the AL, but couldn't listen to him because he was all over the place with his logic and rude. i can't really deal with two types of people: 1) people who use faulty logic, and 2) people who are rude. dude is both.

one day last week he was going on and on about how cold weather games in the NFL suck. He would ask (over and over) for listeners to make a list of the best games ever, and then how many of those were played in the cold/snow? Hey, Colin, the % of games played in those conditions is a low one, and thus it'll be a similar % of games that make said list.
