would i definitely KNOW it was broken, or are there types of subtle breaks that exist where there's not really pain unless you bend it the wrong way 6/16/2010 5:19:45 PM |

your wrist has lots of little bones in it
you can fracture one and not have it be all swollen up like a break in a bigger bone

oh but sometimes if you fracture a little bone they just put you in like a brace thing not a real cast but kinda like one of those boots except for your arm for a few weeks. or they might do a real cast.
but yea there are a buncha little bones in there that you can break too.
is your wrist/hand swollen at ALL?

i was goin up the stairs a few min ago and slipped and caught myself with my left wrist, but it bent back a lot a little too fast, there's no pain at all but when it happened i think i felt somethin weird inside it
im just curious is all, like if it's going to swell after some time, i really have to squeeze the wrist w/ my other hand to get it to even start to feel and pain 6/16/2010 5:26:42 PM |

then you maybe just strained it or sprained it
there can be sprains that hurt really bad
i sprained my wrist really bad a few years ago at an ncsu/unc football game
and i thought i broke a tiny bone in my wrist and so did the doctor. but the xrays didn't show anything so i just had to wear a brace for a few weeks. but it took awhile for it to feel better. 6/16/2010 5:28:41 PM |

I injured my left wrist playing football when I was younger. My wrist hurt a lot, but I continued throughout the rest of the 2 hour practice oblivious. Thought I just sprained it. The next day it still hurt but wasn't swollen by any means. Luckily, my step-mom at the time was super paranoid and took me to the emergency room because I had a small bruise on my wrist and I told her that it still hurt. Turns out my ulna sustained a compression fracture where the outside of the bone crushed together and the inside of the bone broke a little. The bone was still intact. Had I not gone to the doctor I would have never known it was broken. 6/16/2010 5:30:28 PM |

I'm pretty sure I broke my wrist, never got a cast and it healed up just fine if that's what you're asking. I was riding my BMX bike and I fell doing a barspin. It hurt for like three weeks and then seemed to get better. Then I was at the VA Beach skatepark watching Capitalist Casualties when I decided to borrow some guy's board and ride the mini. I fell and a huge shot of pain went through my wrist. I instinctively grabbed it as I winced in pain and as I did I felt the crooked bones set themselves back into place. It took like two months for it to stop hurting, so I'm pretty sure it was broke. The moral of the story is don't go to the doctor.

I fractured my wrist back in High School. It hurt and was a little swollen but my parents were convinced it was just sprained. After complaining for 2, maybe 3 days don't remember my dad finally took me to the doctor. Turned out I had a hairline fracture. The pain wasn't terrible just persistent. Hell I delivered Christmas trees for my boy scout troop the day before I went to hospital with only minor pain. 6/16/2010 6:46:51 PM |

my general rule is if i can move everything, ie fingers, hand motions, arm motions, even if there is some pain, then theres probably nothing broken
and i mean moving each joint in each finger, moving your wrist around 360 degrees, etc 6/16/2010 6:48:58 PM |

i think i may have broken or fractured one of those little bones in my wrist. It really starts to hurt if I flex/stretch it fully in either direction and constantly pops when i rotate it up and down. Also hurts for a couple days after my softball games. 6/15/2011 7:58:32 AM |

I broke my arm just above the wrist back in middle school. Didn't realize it was broken for about a week though, at which point I went to the doctor and got a cast. So yeah I'd say it's possible. 6/15/2011 8:49:36 AM |
