Hello TWW. Long time no post.
I'm currently admin of a listserv for franchise owners of a particular franchise system. Currently I'm going through a listserv service and paying a moderate amount to enable myself and the rest of the franchisees to keep in contact and share information.
What I want to know is if there is a another service that would allow anonymous posting to the listserv as to protect the franchisees from violating their franchise agreements by sharing certain info. Reason I am asking is because I know there are several members that share with the franchise licensor the information that comes across our listerv. I would like to mask the email addresses of the members of the service when they are forwarded. Do you guys have any ideas? 6/16/2010 10:07:38 PM |

listservs are the worst thing. It annoys me to no end that they haven't died out yet

no way, listservs and newsgroups still own.
fuck having to go to a site to get updates.
I'm subscribed to a few dozen work related newsgroups and listservs, and having that shit pushed to me via email client is infinitely more efficient than having to click and wait just to view new posts.
for recreational shit like TWW, yeah a messageboard is better. 6/17/2010 10:13:23 AM |

listservs and newsgroups (to a less extent) contain tons of useful information that is totally worthless 5 minutes after its sent. they aren't organized in any easy to read fashion, they're a pain in the ass to search, replies are mangled and impossible to tell apart.
Someone posts something to a listserv/newsgroup, disjointed conversations happen, and then 10 minutes later someone posts the same question and a new disjointed conversation starts.
Forums are superior in every possible way and if you want realtime updates, get an RSS reader.

I agree with Bobby. I love list servs. No other technology replaces them in a compelling way. 6/17/2010 5:29:16 PM |

Thats because list servs are so uncompelling
I want to know more about this information franchise owners are sharing that they aren't supposed to. This sounds intriguing. 6/17/2010 8:35:40 PM |
