Have a friends HD here, where a component let out the magic smoke on the logic board.

Its a seagate ST3120022A 120gb. Im hoping if I replace the board (and maybe even just this component if I can figure out what it is), the drive should work fine correct?

QQ, what all numbers do I need to match other than part number? Im seeing now firmware and part numbers while scanning ebay.

You need the exact model/revision #, and firmware.

Check out the following website for another guy's success story/failed first attempt.
