I think so. They play music videos more often than they play reality shows, for one thing. Which is a plus.

i mostly just love seeing people admit that they would never listen to country music (except in more self-consciously hipper circles where the position is modified to "never listen to country not favorably reviewed in "No Depression").

MTV has official declared that it's not a music network now. They removed the "music television" from their logo and MTV officially doesn't stand for anything.

Being a fan of country music, but also all genres of music I would agree that CMT is the best television music network being that it's the only network which plays fucking videos

Country music has been horrid since about 1989, going forward. There used to be some real artists in the genre, but now it's just Nashville's Americon Idol and has been for going on 20 years.

GAC does more music than CMT, plus it has Opry Live.

CMT's music only channel is very enjoyable though when regular CMT decides to show whatever crap reality shit they feel like throwing on in the afternoon/evening.

man, sometimes I really miss the MTV of my childhood.

Music videos 80% of the time. All of the shows had some tie-in to music.

yah, GAC is better. But I would assume no one would have ever heard of it, which would blunt the gut reaction some people have against country. And that was more of what I wanted to see.

PS* At the time I wrote this thread, CMT wasn't showing music either. It was showing the movie Maverick.
