New season starts in a month and with the World Cup over, all of the clubs will be starting their pre-season friendlies now. There's sure to be a lot of transfer rumors going around over many of the stars of the cup, and the youngsters who may have shone during the tournament. Lots of talk already with Torres and Mascherano probably leaving Liverpool. Plenty of buzz about Sneijder going to Manchester United, though not sure where the sources are coming from as both parties have said neither want each other..haha. Also, I figured Fabregas wouldve left Arsenal by now for Barcelona, but it doesn't appear that Barcelona care or can pay whatever price tag Arsenal has put on Cesc's worth. Will anyone take a gamble on Forlan after his success, the gamble being his age and the fact that he flopped once in the EPL already...And who else will Manchester City purchase before the transfer window wraps up at the end of August?
Also, noticing a lot of new jerseys coming out for teams, and if what I've seen from some "leaks" comes true in 3 days, get ready to laugh your asses off at Manchester United's home and away kits
Here are the first 4 weeks of the new EPL season starting next month. I'm not gonna post further out than that cause some games are liable to get changed due to weather, champions/europe league, cup matches, etc...
I think I'd also like to use this first page to figure out what clubs the users on TWW support. For the most part I think I know who everyone likes, but I think it would be cool to have a big list on this page of who supports who and maybe where you think your club will finish this season.

Let's see some pics of the leaks
As for who I support, I can't really say that I'm 100% behind anyone, I just like watching soccer. Tottenham intrigued me a little last year as did Everton, but I'd hesitate to call myself a full fledged fan of either.
Maybe this year I can get behind one these clubs. 7/12/2010 8:13:34 PM |

my team is yeovil town fc in league one, but i don't think they'll ever make it in the premiership.
i'm going for aston villa in the epl and i think they'll finish 5th again, especially if they sell milner. i'm hoping for 4th place though.
i may change my allegiances if bob bradley comes in as the coach at fulham though. 7/12/2010 10:01:50 PM |

Watched the EPL every weekend for the last 4 or 5 seasons, but I can truly say I do not have a favorite team. I'm more loyal to certain players than teams. For instance I was all about Everton after they picked up Donovan. For the sake of the thread I'll make a prediction for the Toffees.
Prediction: Everton, 7th

Actually read that the supporters had changed their motto from "Green & Gold til they die or fold" to "Red & Black until they give it back," so that actually lends some creedance to the idea of that green/gold kit so the team administration could make it seem like all those anti-glazer fans are actually not pissed off. Pretty fucking smart.

I thought we created the "European Soccer" thread so we wouldn't need this one
or is that one only for CL and other shit leagues like Serie A 7/13/2010 7:38:32 AM |
JTMONEYNCSU All American 24529 Posts user info edit post |
i assumed that encompassed all of europe. the EPL seems to be the easiest league to watch on tv from what i noticed while i had cable (though it depends on what cable package you are on), and i assume most people on here watch that league the most. plus this thread is made every season and no ones complained yet. there are officiall acc threads and sec threads and all kinds of gay split up shit on here so i dont see there being a problem with splittin off europe to have the the biggest/most popular league in the world as its own thread
and usually there is an own CL thread too, but i guess that and the europe league can be talked about in there :/, though id rather the Champions League and europe league be lumped into one thread too. the rest of european discussions would make sense in the european thread which is what it seems like ribs wanted in the first post
theres way too many leagues and different competitions in europe for us to be handcuffed to one thread in sports talk.
also, amazing how chelski got a nearly identical easiest start possible to the season like last season in the first month of play

JTMONEYNCSU All American 24529 Posts user info edit post |
with the fact he only plays half a season for liverpool now, your best bet is for him to be sold for like 50 or 60 million pounds, which is way more than i think hes worth for how much hes hurt. and then invest that money in a couple pretty good strikers and maybe a right winger and/or another center back
hodgson could prob pull off better buys than rafa, but i think it might doom liverpool back to right outside the top 4.
...lol with threads like this: http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=598440 , might as well make a Perpetual International Soccer News Thread

I was always a fan of Arsenal growing up and still am but I have barely followed the league the last 2 seasons compared to previous years because my life has just gotten a lot busier. I'd check scores online etc. but barely got to watch any games. I'm going to try and make an attempt to get back into it again and watch more games this year.
That being said, I wouldn't mind picking a second team to cheer for since I really don't have a vested interest in any individual players on Arsenal's roster, rather I've just rooted for them for so long it seems like habit.
edit: I'll say Arsenal finish in 3rd
