I'm a fan, and I'm very excited about this.

When is something funny on TV or in a movie, I usually laugh on the inside, or slightly chuckle at the very most.

But the two promo spots that they've done for this roast actually had me belly-laughing for a solid minute. He appears to be a great sport about it. Hope the event itself is as good.

All these 'roasts' are fucking retarded. It is random comedians making fun of other random faggots.

The original ones had genuinely funny people making fun of other funny famous people WHO THEY WERE ACTUALLY FRIENDS WITH IN REAL LIFE.

I wonder how many of these hacks have ever even met the Hoff IRL?

^^ Very sorry. I swear I don't talk like that. I just thought the thread title was going to be too long. I was wrong.

^I actually figured it was something they were using to refer to themselves, now (I don't get cable). Didn't think it was your pet name for the network or anything.

If it's just a way to shorten a thread title, and no one really uses it, that's a lot better.

If

then why wouldn't

^ Because I was originally planning to type "David Hassellhoff's" full name, got to the end of typing the title, realized I didn't know for sure how to spell Hassellhoff correctly, and so I truncated it to the Hoff, but then I didn't think to go back and fix "Comedy Central."

Also I very rarely create threads.

And I'm a goddamn moron. And I suck at TWW.

There. What more do you want from me, Famous?

Seth MacFarlane will lead David Hasselhoff Roast
July 21, 2010

Quote :
"Seth MacFarlane, the force behind 'Family Guy,' has been named Roast Master of Comedy Central's upcoming roast of David Hasselhoff, leading an all-star roster that includes Pamela Anderson and Jerry Springer.

The roast of the 'Baywatch' and 'America's Got Talent' star will air Aug. 15.

Other roasters who are expected to unleash their comedic venom on Hasselhoff include George Hamilton, Hulk Hogan, Greg Giraldo, Lisa Lampanelli and Jeffrey Ross.

Previous 'roastees' have included Anderson, William Shatner, Joan Rivers, Bob Sagat and Larry the Cable Guy."

Lisa Lampanelli is not hilarious. She and Kathy Griffin are in a close race for the position of least funny televised comedian. Even Dane Cook is slightly funnier, and he's an unfunny jackass.

I think this shit is hilarious sometimes, it's hard to find any daring comedy on basic cable and these guys ripping in to each other can sometimes be gold and refreshing for me, I doubt I'd ever go to a jeffrey ross stand up, and I know lisa's is pretty bad from tv but they are good at the roasts at least, greg giraldo's stand up might actually be pretty good though

I think though they only tend to turn out great when the roastee is someone who people actually have respect for, the bob saget roast was terrible, flava flav not that great, larry the cable guy was unecessary although some of that was pretty funny, esp making fun of toby keith; shatner roast, rivers roast, foxworthy, and even the pamela roast were pretty good though

Roast in a nutshell

"Hey that dudes an asshole"
"look how old that bitch is"
"wow you're ugly as fuck"

the bob saget roast featured what might be the best routine in the history of a roast

and if you don't automatically know what i'm talking about, there's no use in explaining it

^^The end where Bob Saget basically said "yeah this was fun but you're a bunch of washed up hacks who don't even know me and aren't funny and fuck all of you I'm rich bitch"? Because that did it for me, and made that the best roast of them all. Maybe the first one or two were good, because the roasters actually personally knew the target, but all of the other ones just feature random comedians telling stupid jokes about each other and rarely joking the roast person.

^^ Yep. Me too.

I realize that it's fashionable among some to be against everything, but roasts are often pretty funny. The Hoff roast wasn't bad, but I do have a couple of thoughts about it.

Did anybody notice the weird energy? I mean, weirder than your usual roast? Well, there was that. And the dais was not-so-full of celebrities who seemed tangentially connected to Hasselhoff. The idea in the "old days" was that your friends (some were obviously closer than others) roasted you because they knew you.

And for Christ's sake, would Comedy Central should just stop bleeping stuff? I can stand that.

they are usually more personal and clever than that, the only line of jokes that are getting kind of boring and formulaic are the vagina jokes which I always thought were lame and the lampanelli fucking black guys jokes even though those were funny at first

I watched the first 15 minutes of the hoff roast and it actually seemed pretty tired, it sounds like the regulars are getting kind of tired of it and it showed so I think they might need to mix up the comedians more or bring in someone a lot more interesting than hoff to freshen it up some

I watched a little bit of the start. Saw Lampenelli (don't care to spell it right) and someone else. The formulaic jokes this time around were like the comedians read his wikipedia summary about 15 minutes before the show and focused jokes on Baywatch, Pam An's tits, him being drunk, and him being a washed up actor. I couldn't handle the stupidity of it.

Oh, and it was the "2 jokes on the roast, 20 jokes on every other person here, oh yeah, 2 more jokes on the roast, some more jokes on other people, 1 final backhanded compliments on the roast *hug like we know each other* next".
