Quote : | "The North Carolina Senate race is far from decided. Currently, Senator Richard Burr leads Elaine Marshall 38 to 33. But with 20% of voters currently undecided the candidates have a long way to go win this election.
Many voters have yet to form an opinion on either of the candidates. 28% of North Carolina voters are unsure of their opinion of Senator Burr and 58% of Marshall.
While more voters know Senator Burr, more disapprove. 39% of North Carolinians give the Senator low marks and only 34% approve of his work in Washington. The North Carolinians who do know Marshall have a more favorable opinion than they do of the sitting Senator: 22 to 20%." |

Posted July 22, 2010 (so I assume it was conducted probably this or last week) [quote]Elaine Marshall LEADS Senator Burr! Elaine Marshall..........37% Richard Burr..............35% conducted by Lake Research[quote]
I'm most inclined to trust PPP since they're NC based & ranked as a highly accurate poll and their most recent one said a 5 point lead for Burr, but that poll was conducted almost a month ago, so maybe some progress has been made. For all the polls, I think the only real take away is that its going to be close.7/22/2010 8:50:11 PM |

Quote : | "The North Carolina Senate race continues to look very competitive, with Richard Burr's approval numbers hitting a record low and Elaine Marshall pulling within 2 points. Burr's at 39% to 37% for Marshall" |
Quote : | "Burr's numbers with Republicans are exactly what they were six months ago. But independents have gone from splitting evenly on him to disapproving by a 33/45 margin, and Democrats have hardened in their feelings with their level of disapproval rising from 50% to 62%.
The race is closer at this point than the Kay Hagan/Elizabeth Dole race was at the same point two years ago. PPP's late July poll of that contest found Dole leading Hagan 49-40. " |
Quote : | "The number of voters who dislike Burr has been rising this year. The number who like him has not. The big question now is whether his millions will be able to get that turned around." |
The most recent polls both have had have had a 2% difference between the two, one in Elaine's favor, and one in Burr's favor, but both very much within the 4% margin of error. Looks like NC is going to hold on to the reputation as a battleground state for a while.8/3/2010 4:52:09 PM |
