This has a lot of potential, as a lot of wire-free devices lately have been coming up with microwave based cordless power chargers. Also this gives hope for a standard power charger for lots of small consumer electronics (think one cell phone charger for every phone you own, your ipod, gps, and anything else you can think of small and handheld).

Until they come up with something that will charge larger electronics without the need for cords in a way in which you could stand between it and the power source and not have any ill effects, I couldn't care any less.

The act of placing a phone or GPS unit or whatever on a charging pad is almost as big a pain in the ass as plugging in the charger.
