I always try to call them out on how they are dumb as shit for believing that this guy with a $100 camera and a lip ring is going to "jump start" their modeling career.

You should call them out. A couple of years ago we had someone telling the Hooters Girls that he was the photographer for Maxim (or some similar publication). I told those that asked me about him that a company like that wouldn't have a photographer at some random Hooters event.

there are a lot of what i would call "amateur" models here in Raleigh. will they ever be super famous, probably not, but they do get hired for modeling gigs none the less. the reason i would classify the majority of them as amateurs is not because they are any less beautiful then some of your professional models, but they are amateurs becasue their main source of income doesn't come from modeling. BMWblonde and Joie would fit into this category.

also, i wanted to add, the fashion industry here in raleigh is growing. there are several fashion shows here every year and a couple huge ones. the girls and guys walking the runway here in raleigh are just as much of a model then if they were walking the runway in NYC or LA. there are also some very professional and talented photographers here in raleigh. there are also a handful of professional and talented photographers here in raleigh.

sparky Excellent & accurate comments. Those are things that I go over with those that are interested in a photo session. Modeling in this area (more accurately any area outside of the major markets such as NYC, Miami, Chicago, LA, etc.) is at best a part time position. Any photographer or agency that suggests otherwise is preying on the dreams and hopes of those that don't know better.
