My Droid X's stock facebook app kept complaining about my authentication not being valid anymore, so I deleted it and installed facebook's version. I can't get facebook's app to sync my contacts photos with their facebook picture. Is there a way to do this, and if not... Can someone point me back to the stock facebook app? 8/19/2010 4:29:48 PM |

I wasn't aware there was a difference between the stock app and the one available in the android market...

mine works just fine.
you can try this: go to contacts, menu, more, settings, remove account. then go back in and add it 8/19/2010 7:18:34 PM |

I think he's talking about the blur integrated Facebook account, not an app exactly.
Settings -> Accounts -> Add Account -> Facebook That is the blur facebook account which automatically adds contacts and attempts to sync them.
An alternate way would be to download the app SyncMyPix, which is similar to Facebook Sync but I believe it also checks Google contacts for pictures.

Doesn't stock facebook app have a 'Sync My Contacts' option in preferences?
That worked on my droid a long time ago. 8/20/2010 9:32:51 AM |

You've mentioned that before, and I've searched for it a couple times and it doesnt come up in the market for me. Maybe it's because I have an evo...i don't know
To the OP, if you open up each contact you want to sync, you can "link" them with their facebook account. Click the link icon in the upper right hand corner of each contact, and choose to link them with a facebook account. It sounds laborious to do that for each contact, but I had link 80 or so and it didn't take more than 5 minutes.
After linking, the Facebook App sync functionality works beautifully.8/20/2010 9:41:01 AM |

Facebook Sync http://www.androidfreeware.net/get-facebook-sync.html
you may be right about it being the phone though:

Hmm, when i scan that barcode, it didnt find anything, oh well if you search the string "facebook sync" in the market, it should be the first result, so it's gotta be something phone related i guess

It's a fairly mature update - I've had it on my rooted G1 for, dang, like a month without hitch. Nexus 1s have been rocking it a good long time too.
You can always keep your ear to the message boards just in case. 8/20/2010 5:00:34 PM |
