I run Win XP, and use wireless Mouse and Keyboard through same usb. Got that virus where pop up ads tell you you need their antivirus software, it won't let you open any program. Ran malware, got all that cleared up, but now my keyboard won't work when restarted, works fine on reboot allowing me to get to safe mode, just not when it restarts. It's def the keyboard, as it works on other computers. Mouse works fine. Suggestions?

Did you proof this post before you hit Submit?

I would double check anything these guys: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ have to say about your problems.

But really, you're just going to end up formatting and reinstalling your machine. It's the only way to be 100% sure you killed whatever malicious software has infected your computer. Back up your important data and get it over with. It is not your keyboard.

Thanks guys, the issue i can't seem to understand is that the mouse and keyboard, while wireless, use the same USB, and the mouse works, so the USB connection is fine???? Is it that serious of an issue where reformatting is the only choice?

Does your wireless mouse and keyboard combo use software? Like a logitech peripherals manager or something like that?

[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 10:32 AM. Reason : if so, I would reinstall it]

It's a Dell keyboard/mouse combo, with dell PC. I can see the keyboard is messed up under the device manager, the exclamation point is there, tired uninstalling the drivers, rebooting, then installing, rebooting, but no luck.

Also forgot to mention, that the keyboard started to work last night for about an hour and then stopped again this morning, which leads me to believe it's the motherboard.

[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 12:57 PM. Reason : you might need to uninstall the USB controllers, reboot, and let windows reinstall them]
