It will take an awful lot of good publicity to get me to even look at Fable 3 after the atrocity that was Fable 2.

I liked Fable 2. What was wrong with it?

^^That's kinda how I felt when part 2 came out. They hyped Fable 1 so much that I found it to be a huge letdown. That experience kept me from even considering Fable 2.

Incidentally... I won't be buying Far Cry 3 either.

Same old pretty-decent hack-n-slash gameplay with a completely pointless and exaggerated life-sim heaped on top of it... I'll pass on this one, too.

The original Fable was fairly revolutionary, I'll grant it that, but the gaming industry as a whole has taken those innovations and progressed much faster/farther than the fable series itself... meanwhile Peter Molyneux is still trying to get people to start a family with his lifeless drones who like to watch you fart at them. Oh, and he added a dog and some guns to the actual gameplay part of the game... so I guess that's something. Except not really.

i've never played fable 1 or 2 but I even I know about this controversy

Molyneux promises that this will be God's own game which breaks all modes and will be the hottest shit you have ever laid your eyes upon

the actual game ends up as pretty good

the difference here is between an promising an 11 and putting out an 8.

Molyneux is the master of unfounded hype.

Between Black & White, Fable, and Milo (Kinect demo) he could convince the Pistons to take him instead of Darko Milicic.

wow that is some fierce criticism

jesus, its just a video game

I try not to take this stuff too seriously and just enjoy for it what it is..............

Fable 2 was not that bad and I am sure that Fable 3 will improve alot of the complaints that people had on Fable 2. If not, then everyone who hated Fable 2 will be right about Fable 3.

Definitely wait for some reviews for this one. I've played it for 3-4 hours and the only word that comes to mind so far is uninspiring.

The entire character creation consists of picking male or female. I won't spoil the plot line, but I could easily do it in one sentence. It's the most basic, boring, trite "plot" in any video game I've seen since the NES days. You get a choice of two weapons the entire game and while they do change the more you use them, that's the only variety you see in weapons. Magic seems to be dumbed down as well. It's basically along the lines of casting "a spell" and your level determines what happens. The combat now seems to be hoards of easily killable creatures that just require you to button mash until they all go away. There is no inventory system to speak of. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this game is a shell of what it could have been and is by no means a "must buy" even for fans of the series.

If you absolutely LOVED Fable 1 and 2 then I suppose you might find this game tolerable, but it's obviously just cashing out on the name and the fact that so many people will buy it just because it's part of a known series. There is nothing innovative or interesting in this game that we haven't seen on 1,000 others and in so many ways it is a step back from Fable 2, which in turn was a step back from Fable 1, IMO.

So I just beat it. It's definitely a rental/gamefly game. Easily beat in a good solid weekend of gaming. There's almost 0 challenge to the game in any place (including the mega-easy ending boss battle), but it's fun and funny enough for a few hours of mindless enjoyment. I didn't start a family or have sex with anyone, but it didn't seem like any of those aspects had changed much since Fable II. I didn't find all the hidden items or do ALL of the side quests, but I found/did enough of them to where I'm pretty sure I won't be playing it ever again. I got the super good/moral ending, and I really don't feel like I'm missing out on too much by not playing through again as evil. All in all this game is the definition of Casual RPGing at it's most mediocre.

6/10

I just wanted to take a minute to bitch.

These two assholes are following me around trying to talk to me. I ran upstairs into a room, they follow me, and one of them stands in the doorway... and won't move. I can't force him to move, get rid of him, fast travel, or even load my fucking game. I literally have to quit the game and reload just to get out of this fucking room. Shit fucking mechanics right there. There's a reason most game allow you to "push" NPC's out of the way.

just turn the safety off and kill him....

what's the problem? Half the time you pull your sword out, use magic, or fire off a round, they run away...

actually right now I have:

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 (played for about 5 hours total)
Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 (played for about 3 hours total)
Cabela's Outdoor Adventures 2010 (haven't even played at all)
GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra (played about 10 minutes...TERRIBLE HORRIBLE GAME)

I used to be pretty good about keeping games in rotation, but I've become slack lately with games like Madden, Fallout, Black Ops since I bought them all
