Well, as the topic says, I've lost my only motorcycle key. Oddly enought, I last saw it when I went to get a replacement made, but the place didnt have the right size.

Its a Honda VTX1300. I've heard the only solution is to take the switch off and take it to a locksmith. Any other ideas?

The dealer may be able to order you one from the bike's VIN. Give them a call. That would be your cheapest option if they can.

On my ATV it was something like $27 for a new ignition switch with two keys. Or check out the locksmith option.

If you have the original owner's manual and materials it came with, they usually have a "serial number" of sorts either on a tag or printed in the manual. Using that number, a key can be made for it. Without that number, a locksmith will have to just work out what the values are to make you a new key. That's pretty much all you've got (that you can do yourself) unless you want to swap out all the locks.

Bring it over and I'll drill it out for $5. Downside is everyone who views this thread now knows you can crank it with a pocket knife.
