Okay,

before I became an Xcom addict, I purchased this other video game. It was about you having to leave earth and create a colony on in a different solar system.

I remember something about encounter other humans on the planet who left after you did, but who got there sooner.

It was kinda like civilization.

oh i have one!

i played it in elementary school on an apple II. it was a math game and you solved simple problems to win parts to make a bomb. when you get all the parts you choose what/where to blow it up. any ideas? i've searched for this thing for forever.

That buggy sumbitch really pissed me off. Loved that you couldn't build things like the Mass Driver which were IN the manual. Plus several of the bugs popped up on me. And of course, this was well before major patching was a common occurrence, so I don't know that they ever updated it properly.

Also, another old game I played was one well before this that was somewhat similar. Humanity was on a large colonization ship, and you had to scout in front and clear the way. You fought aliens, could upgrade your ship, etc. I think I played this on my Tandy, but not sure. Real old.
