I'm glad to see them using their media platform to step out just a bit from the realm of entertainment and doing something to raise awareness for the lies and deception spewing out of the Hannity/Beck/Palin/Malkin bunch.

They are probably the only people that understand Fox News enough to undermine them. I'm hoping this rally is successful.

I'm sure they'll parody some of the more out there liberals too after they get some material from their 10/2/10 rally:

http://www.onenationworkingtogether.org/

Quote :
"What is the One Nation March?

On Saturday, October 2, 2010, hundreds of thousands of people from across America will gather at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate our re-commitment to change. The One Nation March will feature human and civil rights leaders, labor leaders, environmental and peace activists, faith leaders, celebrities and sports figures – all marching together to help Put America Back to Work and to Pull America Back Together. And to help reorder our national priorities so that investments in people come first.

When is the March?

Saturday, October 2, 2010. Our official program will begin at 12:00 pm and end at 4:00 pm. The event site will open for our guests at 6:00 am, and our pre-program will kick off at 11 am. We anticipate tens of thousands of people from across the country for this march. Please plan on arriving in the morning to allow sufficient time to get to the Lincoln Memorial.

Where is the March?

The March takes place on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial located on the National Mall in Washington DC."

Quote :
"WHO WE ARE

We are One Nation, born from many, determined to build a more united America – with jobs, justice and education for all.

We are young people, frustrated that society seems willing to spend more locking up our bodies than educating our minds, yet still we find ways to succeed and shine.

We are students and newly-returned veterans – persevering in the face of mounting debt – determined not to be the first generation to end up worse off than our parents.

We are baby boomers and seniors – who saw hope killed in 1968 and will not let the dream of a united America be taken from us again.

We are conservatives and moderates, progressives and liberals, non-believers and people of deep faith, united by escalating assaults on our reason, our environment, and our rights. "

I like Fox News’ headline about this:
"Permit Dispute Arises Over Stewart, Colbert Rallies”
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/09/17/permit-dispute-arises-stewart-colbert-rallies/?test=latestnews

When there’s no actual dispute, Fox is just trying to spin it negatively

Great, public discussion, discourse, and participation in the decisions of the country has no degenerated into attending rallies of television personalties.

We are sooooo fucked.

Well, we were fucked before.

But now we are extra fucked.

I really want to go to this, but newly minted fatherhood is going to keep me in Raleigh for a few months.

At the very least, I expect Stewart and Colbert readers to be able to figure out the Metro system.

Dude! This is the awesomz! Maybe I could get, like, Jon Stewart's autograph!

Actually I would have expected more support from them for the Restoring Honor Rally where the troops were put on a pedestal. I know Colbert is a big troop supporter.

[Dr. Emmett Brown is doubting Marty McFly's story about that he is from the future]
Dr. Emmett Brown: Then tell me, "Future Boy", who's President in the United States in 1985?
Marty McFly: Ronald Reagan.
Dr. Emmett Brown: Ronald Reagan? The actor?
[chuckles in disbelief]
Dr. Emmett Brown: Then who's VICE-President? Jerry Lewis?
[rushing out and down a hill toward his laboratory]
Dr. Emmett Brown: I suppose Jane Wyman is the First Lady!
Marty McFly: [following Doc] Whoa! Wait! Doc!
Dr. Emmett Brown: And Jack Benny is Secretary of the Treasury.
Marty McFly: [outside the lab door] Doc, you gotta listen to me.
Dr. Emmett Brown: [opens the door to the lab] I've had enough practical jokes for one evening. Good night, Future Boy!
[closes the door leaving Marty outside]

Dude, where have you been, this started with the first Kennedy v Nixon debate.

Appearances have ALWAYS mattered more than policy when it came to elections. Elementary school doesn't lie, there is a reason the popular guys / girls always got elected by appealing to the masses without any real logic.

^What is the point in your opinion?

Cause I haven't gotten a particularly clear message from Stewart. From what I can tell, it seems like a catch-all for people who are dissatisfied but not crazy enough to trot out some Hitler posters.

Some ppl were saying the colbert/stewart rally would only parody Beck, I said it'd probably parody the liberal rally too (then shared some coverage of it after it happened).

^Please provide a link to the proper thread, and I'll repost it there if you prefer. I wasn't aware there was a thread about that particular rally tho.

You're original point was "wrong thread"

Now if there is really a more relevant thread out there to post about the recent DC rallies in, then you have a point with your wrong thread thing (but I don't think its worth starting a new thread over, & I didn't see a more relevant one to post in than the one where it'd already been mentioned)

Unless there is another thread you had in mind, you're just wasting your time with the eye rolling & typing in caps.

"You were showing coverage because they might parody it?"

I'm showing pics here, b/c like I said, there isn't a more relevant thread to share them in, and its not worth starting a new one over a few pics.

Is there any way of gauging roughly how many people will show up?

It seems now that everyone is watiing to see the crowd size and not the message behind the event.

Because everyone already knows the message. It is the same message Stewart is always trying to spread. Why can't everyone just be sensible and believe whatever Stewart believes? It doesn't occur to him that some people just enjoyed the screaming matches on Crossfire, but Stewart didn't like it, so clearly they were hurting America, as if America couldn't survive a bunch of people on late-night TV going their own way.

Well, here we are again, with an "Rally to Restore Sanity", with the implication that whoever doesn't support John Stewart is insane.
