So I get home today and notice that my desktop is powered off.
Hit the power switch a few times, nothing. Checked my UPS/Backup, nothing. checked the power coming from the power cable, its good. Checked power coming out of cables from PSU, nothing. Checked outlet on the power supply, its good.
I'm thinking that the PSU crapped out (possibly due to overheating? I've been folding on that machine).
That pretty much defines that its the PSU, correct?
Any suggestions for a new PSU? (the failed one was 450W) 9/27/2010 10:11:12 PM |

so I bought a new PSU, hooked it up and everything came on!! I feel like I'm pretty lucky that it didn't burn out my mobo. 9/28/2010 2:24:16 PM |

I've had this happen many times. The last time I had it happen, the PSU wasn't totally fried... I unplugged it from the wall for a few minutes, then reset everything and it worked. I've had this same thing happen with two different Thermaltake PSUs. Turns out they are both still working fine, they just "disable" themselves with spikes or something... 10/1/2010 12:49:05 PM |
