Problem is, I've never been before. No one in my immediate family hunts and I just moved to Louisville, KY with my fiance (she's in dental school) so I don't know anyone here to go hunting with. I am picking up my brand new brittany spaniel pup in the next three weeks and have lots of books teaching me how to train it to hunt fowl (i want to hunt pheasant,grouse etc)

Any advice would be great, I just don't know where to turn.

Google for hunting clubs in the area. Go talk to them, pick the one you like, join it, and start learning.

my dad always hunted upland game birds with Britany Spaniels. great bird dogs and loyal. they don't run away like pointers

and if you find out you like hunting try ducks. by far my favorite.
