Not quite sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't bad.


I liked the cinematography and overall tone, but there were many cheesy parts that I could have done without. Also could have done without being made to have any sort of feelings towards the terror in question. The CGI parts (there weren't many) were almost distracting and out of place. 'Twas interesting.

Not a movie to go see and be terrified/scared, because you won't be.
More like slightly uncomfortable if not a little saddened at times.

If you haven't seen Let the Right One In, you should rent/buy it. It's a fantastic film.

I haven't seen this version (and probably won't bother), but my friend who runs a film series in Greensboro put it this way:

"Let Me In is like a crappy high school production of a really good play."

Let the Right One In is seriously in my top 10 of all time. The character development alone was enough to make it an amazing movie. Even when they couldn't elaborate on the nuances that were contained in the book, they provided enough subtle hints for an attentive viewer to pick up on.

I had/have not read the book, but they told enough to prompt me to look up after the movie and determine whether my suspicions were true. For weeks after the movie, I was still thinking about it and contemplating it.

You don't find that much in movies today, and it sucks to hear that the American version bastardized the original, but it's also typical.

Kind of pissed that they decided to remake this film.

Will probably not see it because it looks more like a horror film, while the original was not (it had its moments, but was not a "horror" film).

I've got the book, still haven't cracked it open yet.

^ ehh, Let The Right One In was a far cry from the typical American horror film.

From what I've read, this is a fairly faithful remake and is also not a "horror" movie. Haven't actually seen it and probably won't in the theater simply because I've already seen the original. I'll definitely watch it when it's on DVD though. Or maybe if a friend wants to go see it I'll check it out in the theater.

From the previews, I don't really like how they made her/his eyes look different. But I definitely wouldn't describe the original as "horror" while suggesting to someone.

it's not a slasher/jump-scare-filled popcorn horror flick, but it's horror. If the former defines "horror" for you then I'm sorry, you're missing out.

Horror films are made to scare people. "Let the Right One In" was not made to scare anybody. The only "horror" part about it was that there was a vampire and people being killed. Not too much suspense, nobody jumping in their seats, or any gasps or screams during the movie. That film was about 20% horror, if that.

^ exactly. The intent of the film was not to be horrifying.

Well, maybe you can make an argument for the relationship that is developed between the two as being somewhat horrifying - as in the notion that he'll likely sooner or later become like the guy that was with her/him at the beginning of the story.

Like I said, I would not describe this as horror to the average person. -- I didn't speak to what I define as horror at all. And again, you could make an argument for it being horror. But that argument's not blowing anyone away. And if take a group of average/random people to see Let the Right One In and tell them it's a horror movie, regardless of whether or not they enjoy it, they would probably say it wasn't what they expected from your very simplistic description.

Let the Right One In is a beautiful movie. The way it dealt with loneliness and isolation is damn near unparalleled in my mind.

I have to say that I started watching Let the Right One in a few years ago. I was so creeped out by it at the beginning that I stopped watching it. I will try again to watch it but I am trying to watch this one right now. Hmmm...

The little girl from Kick Ass is in it so I am kind of intrigued.

^^ if you watch one, there's no real need to watch the other. If i had to recommend one over the other, it would be Let the Right One In.

^I think Let the Right One In was creepier at the beginning and because it was also in another language for some reason added to the creepiness (confusion).
