Ok, so I have a new HP laptop, with a ATI 1 gb 1650 HD graphics card... it can run Directx 11, but my laptop came with Directx 10. Anyone know how I can upgrade it? I looked through Microsoft and it only gave me the SDK for 11... none of the sites that came off of Google seemed legit.
Thanks. 10/12/2010 8:35:48 PM |

You sure about your graphics? They don't have a HD series in the 1600 range, they do have the x1600 series but they are directx 9 but in 128mb, 256mb flavor, which you probably don't have.
Make sure you have what you have, but other wise, here's a link to directx from ms.

did a fresh install yesterday, didn't see it in win 7 home. Might have been an optional update though 10/13/2010 1:30:45 PM |

It only comes with Windows 7. If you have Vista, it is included as part of Service Pack 2 (and the rollups thereafter).
The problem is that your card isn't a directx 11 capable video card.
You can't install DX11 unless your video card supports it. So if you don't have it, or see the option to get it via windows update, it's because you don't have the hardware. 10/13/2010 6:26:10 PM |
