""The Chicago Code" stars Jennifer Beals as the new Chicago police superintendent, who, with the help of former partner Jason Clarke, tries to clean up a corrupt department and city. Matt Lauria from "Friday Night Lights" plays Clarke's new partner and Delroy Lindo is a shady alderman. Ryan said the name change came in part because the series had evolved from a straight cop show into more of a series about the city."

From creator Shaw Ryan (executive producer of The Shield, Terriers, The Unit, Lie to Me, etc.). Looks pretty intriguing, and has kind of a The Wire-lite vibe to it. The leads are both likable and proficient actors, and who doesn't love Delroy Lindo? I'm certainly looking forward to the premiere on Monday, February 7th at 9pm.

I'll give it an episode or two since the commercials have made it look pretty good.

i've got some interest in this and the Monday at 9 timeslot is definitely an open race for them to get some decent ratings.

I predict it will be awesome, and like all awesome shows on FOX it will get the axe before it's first season is finished.

haha, I never saw that one, Is it worth downloading and watching?

I've been watching Keen Eddie, which is a really fun show with Mark Valley as a detective who goes to London in search of a load of drugs he botched the bust for. It also has Sienna Miller as his saucy flatmate.

I actually enjoyed New Amsterdam quite a bit. I think it only had about 8 episodes or so and they were able to somewhat give it a tied up ending. might be worth a download if you can find it.

and you actually get to see Zuleikha Robinson in a relevant role

I'm excited for the premiere tonight, and here's an excerpt from Sepinwall's review:

Quote :
"the show's interest in corruption and the way a city functions makes it feel like something much larger in scope than your average cop drama. Not quite "The Wire" - this is FOX, after all, not HBO - but quite a bit richer than the dozens of other police procedurals out there. "

Great first ep. Fox will probably cancel it soon because it's not a procedural.

I quite enjoyed it as well, the dialogue and performances really stand out compared to other network cop shows. Delroy Lindo is a fucking GREAT villain, and Jason Clarke always brings something interesting to the table.

My one gripe is the ridiculous overuse of the kevlar over top of the clothes.

And for some reason this show feels really Canadian. Like flashpoint

I thought that the case of the week and the serialized elements were both really strong this week, the show is starting to fire on all cylinders. Delroy Lindo was fantastic as usual, and his voice-over about his relationship with Cabrini-Green was quite poignant. I also kinda dug the Bill Ayers-esque aging radical gets stalked by a mad bomber stuff.

It's just okay to me so far. I think some bad acting by some extras and some hammyness from Jennifer Beals is pulling me out of it. But it's cool to see stuff in the landscape since I live in Chicago. Maybe I can get paid to eat a hot dog on film if they get picked up for more seasons.

Still liking this one so far--mostly good acting, going to get deeper into the Gibbons story. I really like the way he's portrayed as well--not just a straight villain, but someone who is complex.

Seriously? This is not serious.... This has been consistently one of the better shows every week. At the rate they cut shows, no one is going to want to start watching shows... dammit

i wonder if some good shows get canceled because people realize the network it's on, realize it'll probably get canceled, and therefore don't waste time getting invested in it. kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

of course, that would imply that america as a whole has some semblance of intelligence, so we'll just say network execs are a bunch of mindless assholes for simplicity.

Just watched the finale. Loved this show man. I'm going to miss watching this one. It was one of the very few shows that I watched either live or just a bit after it started on DVR.

I liked the finale, and I'm glad it tied everything up in the end.

Really a shame it was canceled.

Wtf. I thought this show was decent, and had potential.

Just about everything I watch is getting cancelled. Piss me off.
