i'm hoping somebody with experience will tell me that it's still possible it's limited to the inverter and not the entire lcd screen
earlier this evening the screen was dim, still barely readable but not backlit now it's completely black, nothing pops up at all
i don't have an external display to test at the moment but could this still be an inverter related or since it went completely out does that mean i'll definitely have to replace the whole screen
if i take the screen apart, is there a visual tell for who is the culprit?
any help would be appreciated
Asus m50sa-x1 is the model, purchased early 2007 so warranty is out 11/16/2010 8:19:07 PM |

Probably just the back light bulbs. Its usually pretty easy to get to the back-light, just have to take off the front "cover" of the LCD panel.
This usually involves removing it from the base of the laptop as well.

generally the inverters don't go bad.
if it was a progressive thing, IE the screen kept getting dimmer and dimmer, it's the bulbs like greeches said
that being said, taking it apart and replacing the bulbs is a waste of your time. it can be done, but it's labor-intensive. see if you can order a new panel online. 11/16/2010 10:23:29 PM |
