I've got a giant hole (probably 12 by 14in) in the drivers side floor pan of my 2002. Does anyone have experience replacing/welding in metal to fix floor pans? Does anyone have a welder? Can I pay you to help me?

Can you buy a replacement section or do you just want to slap some sheetmetal down? Without some curves the sheetmetal will rattle like a thunderstorm. My chevelle had a barrel lid welded into the floor.

i put driver and passenger side pans in my duster from the firewall to the rear seats (excluding tunnel) and lets say the 2500$ quote I got for the job no longer seemed unreasonable. high quality replacements made a huge difference. its not terribly hard and if you have a ~140 welder you can do it, it just takes time. I had probably 100hrs in mine start to finish.
God I hate spot welds now

If you just want to weld in a barrel lid I'll do it for $40. 11/17/2010 7:48:52 PM |

Well. I've taken a different approach. I've cleaned up the area (dremal to good metal) bought some sheet metal and some heavy duty weather proof caulk. I'm going to paint the panels and spray some them after i cut and form them, caulk the edges, bolt it down, and then caulk the underside and spray some undercoating down.
win.
Good price though, smc - fortunately I have most of this shit laying around. 11/17/2010 9:36:46 PM |

if you're going all back woods on it, self tapping sheet metal screws work great. pop rivets would be a touch cleaner. 11/17/2010 10:40:24 PM |
