Do any of you have experience with this? There are a bunch of companies online who do it. I would prefer to go speak with someone in person. What are some of the companies you have used to consolidate your loans? 12/22/2010 3:08:31 PM |

Yeah half of it is federal and half is not. What is annoying is various banks keep purchasing the loans. So now I am paying 4 different companies each month. In an ideal world I would like to set it up so 1 payment is auto drafted from my account. 12/22/2010 3:18:33 PM |

I did this back in 2006. I don't remember the name of the consolidator I used, I'll have to dig that up, but it's saved me a pretty penny. I did it right before the government really jacked up the interest rates as a way to lock them in at the low rate.

I have one loan from law school with about 35k left on it (Stafford Loan) and its @ 6.8%. I am pretty sure there is nothing I can do to change that rate though. 12/22/2010 3:51:41 PM |
