God can't join us this year, but hopefully the rest of you lot can partake again!
Quote : | " Tired of being a fat ass or a scrawny weakling?
Want to be the envy of those on the beach?
Then enter this challenge.
Rules: 1. Every week you most post a photo of your progress. This photo must be in a bathing suit (I was going to say "birthday suit," but we agreed that some people might not want that*). After all, that's what you're going to be wearing on the beach, isn't it?
2. Post your workout routine and diet info.
3. Don't shit up this thread. It's in The Lounge for a reason.
4. NO FUCKING WHINING. Your muscles hurt? You don't like eating healthy food? You think you look fat? Shut the fuck up and get back to work.
5. Yes, there are going to be women posting photos of themselves in bikinis. Don't be a fucking creep.

Here are my goals thus far:
1) 100-mile bike ride, Tour de Cure, on March 6, 2011 2) Sarasota half-marathon on March 13, 2011 3) Some marathon somewhere at some time
I also probably will have to lose about 10 to 15 lbs to be fast enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Have to figure out how to do that in a healthy manner. I'm ~130 lbs at 5'7" right now.
Dropping alcohol will prob help.

I can, I'm just not comfortable on it, especially without a brace. The past few months I've been going without a brace in normal day circumstances and I'm feeling a lot more confident in it. I can still tell something is wrong with it though 12/28/2010 6:13:16 PM |

I'm in. Actually already started on Monday.
My stats as of Monday: Weight = 224 Body Fat % = 25.4%
Goal Weight = 200 Goal Body Fat % = <=14%
In the am, run for time followed by P90X. In the pm, elliptical for time followed by weight training.
For food, I'm being more disciplined in portion control, and eating healthier; no more big macs. I really let myself go over the past several months and was amazed on monday when I got those numbers. 12/28/2010 7:15:53 PM |

My goals for this year:
1) Bulk up from 165 to 180 and then reevaluate my weight. 2) Tour de Palm Springs 100 mile cycling ride, Feb. 12 3) Napa Valley Marathon, March 6 4) Vineman Ironman-distance triathlon, July 30
In the past, my normal weight has been about 165. I lost about 10 pounds last September while being on a liquid diet after getting my tonsils removed, and for most of last year I stayed around 157-159. I've been working with a dietitian to put some weight back on in a healthy manner, eating about 3500-3700 calories a day while lifting weights and training for my upcoming century ride and marathon.
I've had issues with my body image for most of my life, and now it feels like I'm starting to get somewhere. Most people try to deal with losing weight and don't want to hear about someone struggling to put on weight, but it's actually really difficult for me. As someone who tries to eat healthy, whole foods, I feel like I have to eat constantly and gorge myself to get enough calories, and training for endurance events makes it even harder. I've always been good about fueling up and eating well before a race or competition, but thinking about diet as part of a training regimen on a daily basis is new for me.
Anyway, in on page 1. More Awesome Training to come. I will have a beach body this year. 12/28/2010 7:16:54 PM |

You bitches better watch out. Jan 1 starts a new round of p90x.
Stats -
6'0" - 198 lbs ~24-27% body fat (according to digital scale. Fairly unaccurate)
My goal - Drop 15lbs to get down to 180-185. Drop the bf% in order to count 6 abs. SIX!
This is the year I don't puss out. I can feel it. 12/28/2010 7:52:13 PM |

Goal - Half Ironman by the end of this year's triathlon season.
Current stats:
6' 0" 191.6 lbs. No idea what my body fat % is. My abs look pretty decent though.
Going to get back on a regular ride/run cycle again in a couple of weeks. Just depends on when I get my indoor trainer. I'm pretty hard, but I'm not doing 50 mile rides in sub 30 degree weather. Also need to get back on the weights/pullups, crunches, and pushups. Might consider doing P90X again or at least a modified version of it considering I'll already be doing cardio pretty hardcore.
I'd like to drop about 5 lbs. total and put on a little bit more upper body mass, mostly pecs and shoulders. Really don't have very far to go from a goal perspective. I think I'll shave and tan before I submit my Jan. 1, 2011 pics.
I have very little diet info that I care to post. I really just try to eat healthy and limit the amount of restaurant food that I eat. I'm going to try my damnedest to eliminate all fast food this year. With the exception of Bojangle's in the morning once a week or so after work I've pretty well cut it out of the last 4 months. 12/28/2010 8:23:40 PM |

I'm in for this year. My goals:
1. Run a half marathon. I'm halfway through my training and on goal to run one in wrightsville beach in early spring. 2. Finally figure out what is wrong with my body. After 28 tubes of blood, 6 3000mL gallons of urine collected, 2 more urinalysis's completed, a cotton ball/salivia test, 2 endocrinologists, and one false diagnosis, I think I might have found the problem. Back to my original endocrinologist next week to talk to him about how I think my birth control is to blame (it can cause pseudo-cushings). 3. continue to stay motivated.

I will be participating this year.
Current Stats: Weight - 283 (height - 6'3") Waist - 42" Max BP - 225?
Goals: Weight - 225 (I expect to take the entire year to do this) Waist - 36" Do 25 pullups without stopping Do 100 pushups without stopping Max BP - 315 (again) increased flexiblility
Means & Methods: cut out soft drinks (read: caffeine) completely no more fast food (at all, what-so-ever) portion control cardio 2+ days a week weights/strength 2 days a week
My biggest obstacle is not burning out. I have a great track record of starting well, having good results and then fizzling out after a few months.
I will be 30 in 15 months and I want to be in the best shape of my life at that point. After my recent physical, the only complaint my doctor had was my weight and BMI. I just want to get out of the obese category. 12/29/2010 12:06:28 AM |
