Thinking about buying one, its a stage 1.
What do you guys know about the pros/cons of this car? 1/3/2011 8:45:24 PM |

How much are you going to spend on it?
I mean what is stage 1? Intake, Exhaust and ground effects? maybe swaybars and springs??
I mean its not a bad car but i'm sure better could be had for the money (unless you're getting it on the cheap) 1/3/2011 8:51:44 PM |

yeah its a good deal. from what I gather stage 1 is really just appearance upgrades/mods, ie exhaust, ground effects, things of that nature.
I drove it and its smooth and got some kick. Didn't know if anyone has had recurring problems with a mustang similar or equivalent to this one. 1/3/2011 9:06:27 PM |

Depends on the price and what is actually included in the Roush package, but I suspect you'd be better off in the long run to spend a small bit more and get a new 5.0 over a 3 year old Roush. You'll (probably) get a better handling car, better base engine (although power might be similar with the Roush upgrades), you'll start with a fresh warranty, and you'll know it hasn't been beat on before you got it.

I'm good with the price and stuff for the stage 1 roush is mainly looks.
Mainly I was wondering if anyone had an 08 mustang and had any recurring problems.
Its still on original warranty, looks really awesome, damn good deal (getting it for several thousand less than what its worth), things of that nature. 1/4/2011 11:58:31 AM |

The power won't even be close.
Stock 05 gt is 305 with exhaust and maybe a CAI? so maybe 315-325 hp on thise roush. The new 5.0 has 415 on premium right not to mention it's an infinitely better designed engine. 1/4/2011 12:01:53 PM |

the power is much of a concern, if it was I'd look at a GT500 or something. the thing just looks ff'in cool.
My go-speed racer days are for the most part behind me, and I'm ok with that. Though if I did buy the car, I probably would light the tires up once or twice every now and then.
So no real recurring problems? About what mileage do you replace clutch and things of that nature? 1/4/2011 1:55:11 PM |

unless it has some of the desirable optional equipment, I'm pretty sure it's just appearance package, in which case, I'd get a 2008 GT instead if you really liked the way it drove. I don't think there were any changes between 2008 and 2009, and here's a list of the 2009 spec:
http://www.roushperformance.com/mustang_st1.shtml
(I think the page is mislabeled, as they're showing parts for a 2008... maybe this page was the 2009 parts they offered for the mustang before the 2009 mustang arrived... as a 2010 model? whoops...)
Top gear had a roush-SUSPENSIONED mustang as one of their long-term test cars, and they really gushed over the changes it made to the handling. But that was before the bullitt mustang came out and before that became the basis of the 09 model and is still the setup for 2010 models.
I like the roush shifter, which was on one of the mustangs I've driven... can't remember which... I think it was a dan gurney edition... no that was a saleen. But it has really tight motion. The stock mustang shifter is pretty good now though, at least on the 2008 bullitt and 2009 models I've driven... not sure whether the optional short shifter listed as an option is a ford racing option or merely an unlabeled version of the roush shifter or what... 1/4/2011 2:29:17 PM |

I think once these 2011 GTs start hitting the used market prices on all 4.6L models are going to depreciate tremendously compared to previous years. I'd take the far superior car over an older model with a set of side skirts, bumper covers, and hood any day.
Maybe this will change your mind... http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/24/video-mt-pits-mustang-gt-5-0-against-bmw-m3/

it was designed as a performance engine first... not an economical v8 to put in everything we offer with a v8 (but that is how it will be used anyway) 1/4/2011 7:04:32 PM |

Pricing looks a bit better on the 4.6L. Still looking though. 1/4/2011 11:03:02 PM |
