am I reading the rules right, that i could put street tires on my ECORS XJ and run in O4? 1/13/2011 11:09:42 AM |

Wel there is SO4 for street tire 4wd. And NO4. Non street (>1/4" between treads) 4WD.
We allow non cars as long as theyre setup properly and the owners understand that they can be asked to stop at anytime if we find it unsafe. 1/13/2011 12:29:12 PM |

Does anyone run a Forester? How do they usually fare compared to the other cars in their class (2.5RS?) 1/13/2011 1:50:09 PM |

One of our members ran a forester for a while. But he upgraded the susp on it. He was pretty quick. He now drives an outback sport with a 2.5L swap.
The 2.5s do pretty well. So do the 2.2s and outback sports. They're light and rotate really well. If you've got susp that isn't blown and some decent tires. You'll be fine. Even stock susp works really well.
The guy that ^ is talking about has been out a few times this year. I think 2-3. One of them being our rallyx school and t&t. After the school he really got used to his car and got a hang of the sport.
If it's your first race and you have no experience driving. You won't get into it until maybe after lunch. Your first 2-3 runs will be test runs to see what it's all about.
But if we hold our school before one of our races, maybe before the first, then def. come out and you'll get used to it quick. And you'll be ready for race day.

I don't actually have one, but I could probably get one this weekend for under $2k. It's an 05, wrecked on the front, but drivable and not leaking any fluids. Debating it.
Probably better rally-x options out there for a similar price though and I don't need another utility vehicle.

Ask and you shall receive! http://thscc.com/general/info/calendar.php
What goes on at the test & tune? Obligatory: Testing & Tuning. But specifically, what's the flow for the day? How many runs can a person get in, etc.

I've only done 1 autoX so far, so I can't really answer your questions fully. I do know if you go to help set up the course, most of the time on the day before the event, you get to take some "safety" runs and they're usually pretty liberal with these from what I know.
Email the AutoX VP's at this page and they can help you out, I'm sure.

Last year they setuP a course that could be tackled 3 different ways. And if I remember correctly it was a free flowing day. U get as many runs as you can dO. I might go. But a 2 hour drive. 1/25/2011 12:24:55 PM |

^ That would be pretty nice though. Get to play around with tire pressures/driving techniques and get measurable feedback after each change. 1/25/2011 1:03:07 PM |
