Effective 1/30/11, all current and future 3G and 3G/4G smartphone activations will require the $10/month Premium Data Add-on charge. This allows Sprint to continue to offer simple and affordable unlimited data plans for our smartphone customers, while maintaining a wireless network able to meet the growing appetite for mobile data. Will existing customers with smartphones have to pay the increased price? No, their existing rate plan will still remain the same. In the future, if they activate or upgrade to a smartphone, the Premium Data add-on charge will be added to their monthly bill, but an existing line with a smartphone activated prior to Jan. 30, 2011, would remain unchanged 1/18/2011 7:49:50 PM |

Yeah I saw that earlier today. I guess you can't really blame Dan now for advocating the 10.00 addon was not a 4G fee. Lol 1/18/2011 8:31:25 PM |

hmm.... I may have some questions about switching phones as much as I do. I definitely don't want to hike my plan on accident

How long can virgin mobile continue to offer unlimited data and 300 minutes for $25 a month when their parent, Sprint, is charging more than that just for data? 1/19/2011 7:59:27 AM |

^virgin also just passed out notes that their "unlimited data" is now "throttled data" after a few gigs. I'm cool with that on 90% of my uses for it, but it's still annoying that I've had it for like 3 months and now we're changing terms of the thing
No contract to get out of, and it's still by far the best choice for the money, but sad they're coming to this.
V compared to who? 'Cause ATT and TMO don't even have service out here. Verizon/Sprint/Nothing And for a comprable plan on Verizon they wanted $129/month plus capped data instead of throttled at 5GB.

i wonder what the prices will be in november when my 2-year contract runs out and i finally decide to get a smartphone...i'm still on a grandfathered alltel plan, but i suspect verizon will want to rape me when it comes time to renew (if i want a new phone, that is) 1/26/2011 2:11:42 PM |

Has anybody tried sprints broadband internet service? I have just got it (can return it within 30 days)but even loading youtube videos takes some time. 1/28/2011 11:09:00 PM |

If you're on 3G, Youtube will be a tad on the slow side. On 4G, however, that's not an issue. 1/29/2011 9:10:45 AM |

At best my download speeds have been 1 mbps with the sprint broadband and I live on Faircloth. 1/29/2011 1:23:40 PM |

^I average around 800kbps down on 3G, and 4-5mbps on 4G, so you are doing pretty good. You are in a 4G area-you should get a 3G/4G card. It is the same price as 3G only and you get unlimited on 4G without having to worry about going over 5GB. 1/30/2011 7:31:16 PM |
