Didn't see a thread and not that it really matters, but Drew is leaving Carolina immediately.
Peace out homie

There was actually a whole big string where McCants's dad got into a big argument with a guy from Elon and talked about how Roy constantly badmouthed Rashad to NBA coaches/scouts. Then Rashad himself got on there and said "i need to see a therapist bc my coach dont understand my facial expressions."

Oh yay found it
Rashad McCants lol very true.... I suck at life you should give me lessons... 21 minutes ago # James Mccants Look I don't expect any of you to go against "Good Ole Boy Roy", but to have you all taking shots at me is personal. You don't know me and apparently you don't know Roy. I expected this type of backlash and welcome all of you negative comments, simply because non of you have a clue. 18 minutes ago # Robbie Beck I don't know you Rashad, but I'd like to see you succeed. Lots of folks are just perplexed by some of the turns your career has taken. I know injuries didn't help once you got to the NBA, but you seem healthy now. Did the China offer interrupt your opportunity with the Legends or did you just decide that wasn't for you? 16 minutes ago # Chase Gaddy It hurts to see one of my favorite players talk so badly about my favorite university (@ Rashad). I look up to you guys but to say Roy Williams is responsible for anything besides helping you get a national champ. & getting u drafted in the... lottery is crazy talk.
Anyways, I still remember sitting behind Damion & David Noel in '03 at the Greensboro coliseum vs. Illinois. Sat right behind the bench, but couldnt see anything because i was so short. Good times.See More 16 minutes ago # Adam Lawson James, I looked at your profile.... it's full of n***a this, and n***a that.... Why don't you grow up and be an adult, for the first time in your life? 15 minutes ago # Rashad McCants all these questions with no answers.. so you form your own answers.... 14 minutes ago # Robbie Beck I'd rather hear it from you. That's part of the problem is folks forming their own answers. Here's your chance to speak your piece. Take it. 12 minutes ago # Adam Lawson Rashad, what is your problem??? ROY took you from a guy who had no concept of TEAM, probably because of your lame father, to a guy that helped a team win a national championship and THEN become a lottery pick. You're the one that wrecked your career, not Roy. 12 minutes ago # James Mccants Adam: To show how big of a coward you are you don't have a profile picture 12 minutes ago # Adam Lawson Oh really??? You want to see me... Well hold on ***** 11 minutes ago # James Mccants And you don't see that on my sight! 11 minutes ago # Adam Lawson Umm, yes I do. Why don't you go get a job? 10 minutes ago # Adam Lawson And you should have encouraged Rashad to, you know, GRADUATE 9 minutes ago # Adam Lawson if he even went to class 9 minutes ago # Chase Gaddy Wow im probably the youngest one reading this & also probably the most mature. Seriously, you cant have a civil discussion without name calling & stupid accusations? 9 minutes ago # James Mccants Adam: Be careful son you as smelling your ***** 9 minutes ago # Adam Lawson I don't speak gibberish James. Please type in English, okay? 9 minutes ago # Adam Lawson and responsible parents don't use the word "*****" on the internet 7 minutes ago # James Mccants Wow Adam what an ignorant ******* you are! You graduated form where? 7 minutes ago # Adam Lawson I'm in school at Elon University. Where I'll graduate. Then I'm going to grad school at UNC to get my masters. Next question 6 minutes ago # Rashad McCants ok here goes...been out 2 years now. my facebook has all kinds of charities and foundations. my mother is a breast cancer survivor and I am to the viewers considered crazy. but lets think a sec. 17 year old kid walks into his dreams with hi...gh hopes and big goals. all to later find out that i need to see a therapist bc my coach dont understand my facial expressions. with the mistakes and miscommunication that happened while in college. I was ready for a fresh start at the highest level. all to walk into the first question of my nba career. How does it feel to be compared to JR Rider? hmmmm..... this happened right after shaking the hands and receiving my hat. you gotta pay for the rest....See More 2 seconds ago # James Mccants I'm not going in to verbal war fare with an ignorant ******* such as yourself. You are not worth my time! 2 seconds ago # Adam Lawson You did it to yourself Rashad. No sob story is going to be applied to you. You compared playing at UNC to being in prison. There is no misunderstanding or miscommunication involved with that. You're just an idiot with a cancer for a family 2 seconds ago 2/5/2011 1:53:10 PM |

From Insider:
Quote : | "Here are 10 things you have to know about college basketball right now:
(1) Losing Larry Drew hurts UNC in a big way
Losing Larry Drew hurts UNC in a big way. While Andy Katz is right in many ways about Larry Drew's selfish move to leave the suddenly-back-from-the-dead Tarheels in February, I do understand his frustration.
Drew was an overrated prospect to begin with and was never truly a starting-caliber point following in the footsteps of Ty Lawson. His defense, while solid, was never enough to compensate for his lack of shooting, inability to finish or his average decision-making in a system in which the point guard truly runs the team.
However, anytime something has gone wrong in Chapel Hill over the past two years, everyone, yours truly included, has blamed Drew, and that is the unfair truth. With Kendall Marshall displacing Drew and the Heels looking suddenly like a contender in the ACC, the other unfair truth is about to come out: Marshall is also not good enough or win big with by himself.
Marshall struggled in Carolina's big games early in the season, and that is why he did not start earlier. Marshall is big, at 6-foot-3, and a solid floor leader and passer, but he is not able to penetrate against top-level defense. He makes more shots than Drew but is a set shooter who takes a long time to get his shot off, and his pace can be too slow for Roy Williams style.
Marshall also doesn't have a true backup. Dexter Strickland is simply not a point, and teams will climb all over him. UNC will miss Drew on the floor, even though the locker room will be a far more comfortable place. " |

I will preface by saying that I am as much of an NC State fan as anyone. I watch all of the games that are available and try to go to at least one game a year.
But UNC looks damn good with Marshall running the point. I am interested to see them against Duke on Wednesday.

It'll be Strickland, I imagine. He's much quicker. I could see Duke getting all they can handle form UNC but winning a close one in Cameron. Henson should handle the weaksauce Plumlee's, but UNC doesn't have any answer for Singler's versatility.2/7/2011 11:56:24 AM |

Quote : | "Sometime late Thursday night, Drew went back to the North Carolina locker room to pack up some belongings. By morning he was gone. He left without saying a word to the coaches or players -- including his roommate, Justin Watts, who was supposedly his best friend on the team. The fact that he left it to his father to deliver the news to Williams was the ultimate cowardly act. It does not speak well of the player, but frankly it also does not speak well of his parents. Instead of doing the dirty work for him, Larry Sr. should have told his son, "If you want to leave, you go into that man's office and tell him yourself, to his face." It would have been the honorable thing to do.
Much has been made about the role that Larry Sr. might have had in his son's decision, but Drew's mother, Sharon, is a far greater problem. Sharon is the one who would call the coaches to complain about how many minutes her son was playing or how many shots he was getting. The news site Inside Carolina reported that in 2009 Sharon called the basketball office irate after she heard Williams spoke with John Wall, who was then a high school senior, about coming to play in Chapel Hill. Sharon was the one who would protest how many tickets she was getting to games, and where her seats were. She is the one whose meddlesome tactics led the coach at Drew's former high school to dismiss his younger brother, Landon, from the team in the spring of 2010. The coach, Derrick Taylor, told the L.A. Times, "I informed [Landon] and his mother he could no longer be on the team. He's a great kid, but the circumstances are too unbearable." The school's principal later instructed Taylor to reinstate the player, saying "Landon can't be punished for adult behavior."
There is a strong argument to be made that Drew's departure is a classic case of addition by subtraction. In North Carolina's first game without him, Marshall played 36 minutes and had 16 assists to just three turnovers in a 20-point thrashing of Florida State. But that's not the point. Ironically, as selfish as Drew's actions have been, they are also self-defeating. Though his father told the Raleigh News and Observer last week that "this was a decision that was made long before this season even started," Larry's decision to wait until after the start of the spring semester means that he only has one year of eligibility remaining. If he had transferred during the semester break, he would have retained the option of becoming eligible in midseason next year. " |
