I have the service Ipod2Computer for $19.99 but its not working properly right now. I think my ipod is very close to death, so I want to get these songs off ASAP.
Any way to get the songs off the ipod for free? I have googled and tried a couple of things, but I cant seem to make something work. 2/6/2011 7:34:38 PM |

enable disk mode, go to whatever drive your ipod is mounted as, go to organize > file and folder options, click the view tab, make sure hidden files are enabled, find the ipod_control folder, copy music out of there.
the filenames will be all fucked up, but there are programs out there that will rename your files based on the id3 tags.

winamp has an ipod plugin that I think comes with it now. Simple to use. It will index your ipod and you can select songs and copy to computer.
It will rename the songs to something like artist - song, but it will maintain ID3 and once on your hard drive, you can use any number of mp3 renaming tools. 2/6/2011 8:14:35 PM |

Yeah once you connect your iPod to your computer, it will show in the EphPod application. Move whatever you want from the iPod to your computer using the program, in a location/folder (make a new folder) of your choosing.
Later, import the songs folder into iTunes. 2/6/2011 8:27:02 PM |

wth
i have ephpod and i have used it to transfer them all (a couple of thousand songs). granted, i downloaded the program about 5 years ago. perhaps then it was free to use as much as you want.
go to http://www.cnet.com and download the older/original (it had just come out when i got it) version of the program (and also look for other programs while you are there).
sorry 2/6/2011 8:34:27 PM |

^Not a problem.
It actually is embarrasing to say this, but I got my ipod 2 computer program working. When I went to authenticate it, I copied the S/N incorrectly about 6 times, leading to it not working
Oh well, working now so far. 2/6/2011 8:41:24 PM |
