Since I haven't lived in Raleigh in 6 years, I figured I'd come here to ask some advice.
My girlfriend is going to Raleigh for training with come co-workers and her company is allowing them to pick the hotel. They want a hotel that is within walking distance of some good bars, so I am guessing maybe downtown? Any suggestions? 2/14/2011 9:57:10 AM |

there's a ton right there since it's a block away from the fayetteville st. area (Raleigh Times, Isaac Hunter's, Busy Bee, Foundation, and at least a dozen more). There's also the R-Line which will get them from the fayetteville st. area to the other bar districts in downtown for free.2/14/2011 10:30:04 AM |

Raleigh Marriott City Center
500 Fayetteville St Raleigh, NC 27601 (919) 833-1120
Its with in walking distance to a bunch of restaurants and bars and right at the new City Plaza which has an outdoor ice skating rink. its my favorite part of Raleigh right now. The Sherton is good too and is in the same area but the Marriott is newer.

If for some reason you don't want to go downtown, the Renaissance Raleigh in North Hills is a nice hotel within walking distance of some nice places to eat/drink (in the same North Hills shopping center). It's probably the best bet if you didn't want downtown for some reason. My wife and I stayed there the night of our wedding since the wedding was in Raleigh and we really enjoyed it. 2/14/2011 10:38:12 AM |

The Clarion is the tall circular one. I stayed there a couple nights on a whim, asked for the highest floor...pretty nice place and not too expensive 2/14/2011 11:06:16 AM |
