How long is this '80s retro thing going to last? I'm starting to think it's going to be like M*A*S*H where the entertainment by-products actually last decades longer than what they're based on. If that's the case then we may just be several years into a multi-decade 80's-decade retro period. What if the entire 21st century is defined as 80s retro?

Anyway, I'm not going to see this movie. There's absolutely no way in hell that it's better than Hot Tub Time Machine.

Also, that's not the girl from Twilight in it? Google tells me it isn't but I'm not convinced.

A lot of comedies are being set in the 80's because their plots rely on communication breakdowns that have been largely eliminated by cell phones.

a few years back tons of movies were set in the 70s. Now there are lots of them in the 80s. I would be in the years to come there will be plenty in the 90s. I'd say it comes from nostalgia of that time period, along with old fashions coming back into style.

Dazed and Confused was the big one and that was 1993.

i was at crabtree the other weekend and walked past h&m... there was a display that had a mannequin in a nirvana t-shirt with a long-sleeve flannel tied around the waist with jeans on... it still had a bright late 80s/early90s colored scarf around it's neck

the fact that this is what "ultra rad" h&m is now telling kids to wear should tell you something about where retro is starting to head

I saw the same thing at Belk's last fall, the mannequins even had flannel shirts tied around their waists. In effect the mannequins had evolved from Mannequin to Mannequin Two: On the Move. I thought to myself that we must be progressing from 80s to early-90s retro.

However, that never took off and I never saw anyone in early 90s fashion last fall. I think it's just the department stores trying to guess trends because style is ironically eating it's own stomach right now.

It's not Kristen Stewart. I've seen that girl in something else, but I can't think of it.

^Really??

He's been pretty successful since then. While not a Hollywood blockbuster guy, he's been in plenty of money-making movies since leaving that 70's show.

Wow, the guy from Balls of Fury. I was wondering if he'd ever show up again... well I guess he's been in other stuff, but nothing I've ever seen.

Just like Ronnie sang. I say, just like Ronnie saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang.

I've still got this in the closet

Last time I wore it I got lots of stares. I'll have to start busting it out again to see if it catches back on.

I hated those things. The kid who sat behind me would always wear one. He reaked of cigarettes, BO and pork rinds.

Human League is so awesome. An underrated band, for sure. The video could have only been cooler if they had used a cover of a Level 42 song.

The video could have only been cooler if they had used a cover of a Level 42 song the actual Human League video instead of some asshats covering it

I didn't have any money left over after buying all those cigs and pork rinds.

Someone here did their daily 8:00am garlic bread. The first time... mmmmm garlic bread. After every day for a couple of weeks the smell makes you want to puke. Especially early in the morning.

I actually enjoyed that video.

I mean the cover wasn't that great, but the little Be Kind Rewind style skits were neat.

Any film that features Suncoast Video and a popular blonde named Tori Frederking is alright in my book.

Me and the hipster tweens it was made for will hopefully enjoy it.

I like at 50 seconds in that video when the guy from balls of fury is waving to someone to come over, it looks like he's patting some girl in the tits
