I can't believe there is not a thread yet.

This season looks good, but then again they have nowhere to go but up after last season. Boston Rob and Russell are back.

I am stoked.

Yeah that guy is a total nut job. It makes me wonder what kind of position he actually had.... most likely something administrative in nature.

I really like the dynamic this season. I feel like Rob has put himself into a really good situation. He seems like a really likeable guy, and most of the tribe seems somewhat infatuated with him. I really think Russel is going to have trouble weaseling his way deep into the game this year, much less into the finals. There are some tough, no-nonsense dudes on his tribe and they all know his tactics.

I think they'll get russle out, but he'll go to the island of redemption, win, come back, (maybe repeat that sequence again).

It'll make for good T.V.

The way I understood it, only once will anyone from Redemption Island come back into the game. I am guessing it will be when there are about 6 people left.... or when it makes most sense from a production standpoint and will add more chaos.

it will have to be before the jury is formed... at least it seems that way. b/c people from the jury are supposed to be at tribal council so they can see what is going on and listen, etc...

my guess is someone will return from redemption island right at the merge or right before the jury

It is also possible that they invite whoever is on Redemption Island to tribal council as an observer.

^I thought about that, but unless I misunderstood, I thought whoever was on redemption island was supposed to be unknown to the other people. They know who is voted out, but they don't know for sure who wins the "duel" and gets to stay... I guess we'll see.

I think we should settle this dispute in typical TWW fashion. By calling each other names and insulting one anothers' intelligence.

Man i really like this season. Boston Rob is getting a bit crazy this early. That Matt dude idolized him and would vote however he wanted. We shall see though.

It might just be the editing, but it's almost like everyone on Rob's team is content to just sit back and watch him own the game. They are all acting star-struck around him, whereas most of the people on Russel's team don't trust him at all. I know I'm not a cute chick, but if I was on Russel's team I would be kissing his ass and doing whatever I could to get into an alliance with him. That seems to be the surefire way to make a million dollars on Survivor. I find it hard to believe that Russel will be able to play the exact same game 3 times in a row and make it to the end though. He said he doesn't need numbers, but I think he's wrong. The scenes from next week made it look like Russel was going to make a big move, which probably means he'll be the one going to Redemption Island. They always like to point in the completely opposite direction with the previews on this show.

^I agree, they seem to point in the opposite directions. However, there were a couple times last season and the season before where the previews almost gave away what was happened. I'm sure these previews want you to believe that Russel will try to blindside Ralph the farmer.

it sure seems like it will be hard for russell to survive the first vote after his tribe loses immunity. he can't get the idol. it hasn't seemed like his tribe has any terrible competitors that they could vote off because they're worthless in challenges (i guess that once girl sucked - but not like dan from last season level)

that said...i think he'll find a way to survive. but i don't think he'll make it til the end.

i'm really enjoying this season so far. phillip is such an idiot...i laughed when the little tag on him came up as "phillip former federal agent?" or something to that effect

Russell (or Ressell) apparently voted out. I am surprised in that it's Russell and he always seems to find a way to stay safe, but I am not surprised because everybody has seen his antics and he is nothing but poison.

I was also thinking how cool it would have been had they not told anyone about Redemption Island, that is until after they have been voted out. So basically, you get your torched snuffed and think you are going home, but then instead are sent to the island. Then, near then end of the game, to everyone's surprise, one of the players previously voted out comes back.

I thought the Redemption Island challenge was kind of weak, and those were some of the most busted-ass poles I have ever seen.

Boy, I called that one. I lost all respect for the remaining members of Russel's tribe. Voting Russel out is one thing (and probably a smart move) but throwing a challenge is retarded. Giving the other team a reward plus their first taste of victory and the confidence that comes with it is about the dumbest thing I can think of. It's not like you were never going to get another chance to vote him out.

^ yeah, either they win out until the merge and vote him out first (unless he wins immunity every week) or lose legitimately and vote him out then.

i hope he makes it off redemption island but i don't see it happening.

Well, from there standpoint, they didn't want to give him an extra 3 days to come up with something. He had to scramble in less than a day. Also, I'm sure they feared the Idol and the longer he's in the game, the longer he has to find one.

BUT, I thought it was dumb History shows to keep him around if at all possible and you will win.

Haha I did not catch that but I do remember the "Ressell" vote. It's really embarrassing IMOm but I highly doubt that he is the slightest bit embarrassed.

I did hate that Stephanie got voted off. She was by far my favorite girl this season. The ones that are left are either really busted up and ugly, or they are drama queen little bitches. Phillip is an absolute nutjob, but he did hit the nail on the head when it came to the two girls at camp.

Man I actually feel bad for Matt. Beating 6 people to get back in the game, only to be voted back to Redemption Island on the first vote.... ouch.

I can see why Rob did it, but I also think that Rob misjudged Matt.

Matt is annoying as fuck...I don't care who is and who isn't religious, but the guy is barely ever able to get through one sentence without mentioning god. I really hope he doesn't make it back in.

That said, Phillip is almost as annoying, albeit slightly more entertaining. Probst never understand why people like him and Coach are so hated on the show...easy answer IMO. People like that have to try to act like that. They do their best to show off their knowledge of shit like the Samurai code or whatever they are talking about. Point being, they're putting on a show. People don't like people who can't just sit there and be themselves.

^I totally disagree. Phillip is being himself. In real life he's a desperate loser who is completely clueless as to how he comes across to others. The Phillips/Coach's/Shambos are great for the show.

My biggest concern for the season is how much everyone has acquiesced to Boston Rob. Unless someone soon initiates an anti-Rob campaign he's going to walk to final. This has been one of the least competitive seasons I can recall.

Boston Rob is pretty fucking likable though. I mean, I find myself thinking, "This guy is really cool," every time I watch the show. I am really glad that it is him and not Russell that made it this far. I also hope that Grant continues to chill with Rob, as Grant also seems really cool.

this has been the worst season i can remember. pretty much everything that rob said was going to happen, did. absolutely no surprises, and rob is gonna win unanimously

at least matt will probably win the $100K fan vote

sad that the biggest surprise all season came in the final 5 minutes of the reunion. so bets on who the returning members are next season? probably too soon for russell, so i'd say matt and maybe phillip

and awesome idea in bringing back redemption island again next season, because that was so interesting this time around. really changed the dynamics of the game when matt and andrea, the two returnees, were immediately voted off again. they should make the returnee immune in the next vote, so they at least have time to re-acclimate to the tribe that already voted them out.

I don't like the idea of giving immunity to who comes back. They are already getting a 2nd chance in the game (which I don't like in the first place). Noone in survivor history (except those rare seasons when they voted someone back in the game), can say that.

redemption is useless unless the person is coming back into a situation where they at least have a chance to make some noise. maybe this season sucked because rob's tribe dominated everything so matt and andrea were coming back into the exact same situation they left.

and the more i think about it, the more i don't like the idea of bringing back former players unless it's an all-star season. sure the other players hold the power, but really if you go in like rob and be everyone's friend, your experience can get you to the end.

but bringing people in that you're familiar with makes the beginning of the season much more watchable. That's my one beef with survivor. The start of the season is usually tough to get into because there are too many people to try to care about.

The funny thing is, watching Rob talk and all, I am sure I would have done the exact same thing as the rest of his tribe and just did what he said. He's a smooth talker for sure.

I hated to see Grant take things the way he did. He really seems like a cool guy, and it obviously hurt him.

Things I miss about older Survivor seasons:

-Bug eating challenges
-Winning cars once it's down to ~5 people
-Tie breaker challenges if votes end in stale-mate
-Survivor Auctions (the recent ones seem much shorter or nonexistent)
-Long, simple standoff challenges (not this shit where your podium gets smaller or you have more to balance)

I feel the exact same way. I enjoyed this season b/c there was already someone I was familiar with, I could jump right into the season & enjoy it from episode 1..some seasons it takes 3-4 episodes to give a fuck about who you want to win. I really enjoyed this season...wish Russell would have made it a little longer..but over all it was an enjoyable season. I enjoyed the FEDERAL AGENT...great casting of that guy, cause he was very entertaining...that stupid man looking woman fireman had stupid statements at the end of the game & that one guy that told Phillip that he was a worthless human being or something like that...damn...that was cold. Phillip should have beat his ass.

Also - the engagement at the end...first off..don't have a clue who the girl was...but she almost seemed like she would have said no if it had not been on live tv.

Yeah Jeff Probst said that the engagement was planned (obviously) but he was caught off guard by how long it took the dude to actually walk off the stage and go do it... almost seemed like he had 2nd thoughts...
then the chick totally didn't seem like she was into it... maybe caught off guard as well

i didn't even remember her being on survivor and had to look her up
her name is carolina eastwood
