We suck on the road and Maryland is a tough place to play. They still have NCAA tourney aspirations so they'll be motivated to win this game.

Fatass Williams gets Howell and Smith in foul trouble, Painter promptly commits 3 fouls in a span of two possessions forcing us to use Vandy. Close game at that point become a 10 point margin and UMd cruises to victory. Leslie has another solid game though keeping it closer than it should be.

Howell and Brown have make up games and rack up points with mid range jumpers, Howell blocks Williams out to the three point line on every rebound attempt. CJ Leslie gets 25 rebounds as a result, half of which are offensive put-back dunks. We get Wood open for a couple of threes (which he makes) and Javi comes in and continues to dish the ball in the low post to a wide open Tracy Smith who finishes easily (consistently on the opposite side of the basket as Williams).

Our defense has a hard time keeping the 3 ball in check, but hold Maryland to shooting <40% from the field. We win in a scrappy contest that looks pretty at times, and looks miserable far less than we have seen in the past.

Maryland actually isn't all that dissimilar from us. They're only one game ahead of us in the conference standings. They've lost all of their big OOC games: Pitt, Illinois, Temple, and Villanova. Except for a fluke game against an actually decent Penn St team in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge (39 total pts at home). They've won some should-win conference games, but lost every time they played a top 5 ACC team. On paper, we ought to be able to hang with them. But it's an away game in the ACC and we all know what that means.

Jordan Williams is a beast and will be very tough to contain, especially at home. We don't have anyone good enough defensively in the post to stop him. The only chance I really see us having at winning is limiting Williams to < 20 pts, < 10 rebs.

This is the toughest game left on our schedule, I really don't think we keep it within single digits unfortunately.

If we can get Williams in foul trouble and we can handle their pressure maybe we could pull off a miracle but I just dont see it happening.

Maryland is significantly better than their record would suggest, their easily the 3rd best team in the league particularly now that FSU is without Singleton.
