for a raunchy space alien comedy it looks pretty good, hopefully the trailer isn't ALL of the funny parts

Quote :
"Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America's UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town-a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes..."

I did not love the trailer, but there are a ton of funny/talented people involved so I am cautiously optimistic about it.

Really looking forward to this.

I wonder how many people will think it's directly connected to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

I wish there was an update on the next Pegg/Frost/Wright project, The World's End. Granted, I absolutely loved what Edgar Wright did with Scott Pilgrim; I'm just not sure how Ant Man will turn out and I'd like the Blood and Ice Cream/Cornetto trilogy to actually be a trilogy.

I saw it and laughed throughout most of it. The part that had me lolling a lot was when she said "You bet your fat cock I do!"

But I wouldn't say it necessarily made fun of only Christians, it's just that the main girl was radical Christian so it fit the movie. I'm no religion major... do strict followers of Judaism or Islam accept the possibility of intelligent lifeforms that were not created in God's image?

I liked it, but it wasnt nearly as funny as I thought it would be. Of course having said that a movie doesn't have to be funny to be good, just don't go see it expecting superbad meets sean of the dead with an alien.

I don't like how regular actors are stealing all the voice work too. Watching movies like this doesn't make you think of two British guys and an alien. It makes you think of two British guys and Seth Rogen.

but you can't deny that attaching Seth Rogen's name to this movie made it more appealing to a wider audience than Pegg/Frost normally bring in.

Of course, and thats why they do it. I just prefer watching cartoons and animated features with anonymous voices rather than celebrities. So its like "Hey cool, that Mammoth is talking to that Sabre Tooth Tiger" not "Hey, its Ray Romano talking to Dennis Leary."

Billy West would agree with you.

I wish Patrick Warburton and H. Jon Benjamin would get more roles voicing movies.

It does if it's a comedy.
