Hahaha, good riddance. The Evo X felt like complete shit to drive. Would much rather be in the seat of a STI of the same year.

I'm sure the EVO IX (more specifically the MR) will go the way of the ITR and be heralded and jacked up in value for many years to come.

Green is the new black in the auto industry. Considering that, at least in this country, Mitsu was largely ignored by the general population, it makes sense for them to try to reinvent themselves as the eco-conscious car company even if they do alienate a small but devoted segment of "car people" by killing the Evo. Bad for gearheads, yes--but I think it will be good for their bottom line.

Look at how many failed or barely successful hybrid and electric models have already littered the automotive grave yard. That is a highly risky strategy for a car company with limited resources. Going "all in" on this is a bad idea. If Mitsu can't build a decent and reliable "normal" car who's to say they won't screw up electrics and hybrids?

Followup: Mitsubishi unconvincingly addresses Evo death rumors via Facebook *UPDATE

Will the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X be the last Evo ever built? Rumors to that extent were flying fast and furious across the Internet yesterday. Mitsubishi has decided to address these claims by way of a post on its Facebook page:

I think the Evo 8/9's resale was secured when it became clear Mitsubishi (or anybody else) wouldn't make a comparable car. I wouldn't mind buying an Evo, but I'm just not going to do it when they've refused to depreciate in the last 2 years. I may buy one when people realize it's a Mitsubishi... if that point ever comes. I mean look at the Type-R, those are still worth so much. :/

you guys will be a lot happier when you stop buying small, lightweight cars designed for activities you don't do and instead by larger, comfortable cars that are designed for things you do (large sedans or GT coups for eating up interstates for example)
