What happens when uncle sam offers to fund healthcare?
Almost 15,000% price increase, lol
Quote : | "ATLANTA – The price of preventing preterm labor is about to go through the roof.
A drug for high-risk pregnant women has cost about $10 to $20 per injection. Next week, the price shoots up to $1,500 a dose, meaning the total cost during a pregnancy could be as much as $30,000.

Somehow they can do public healthcare in the majority of the first world without it bankrupting the government, why can't the US get it right?

And, as is almost always the case, "big business" can't corner the market without the help of government.

^^^AHA, I was seriously trying to figure out which line they got caught on.
^^^^^Unfortunately, the government is going to be involved whether we like it or not. We might as well let them go all the way and force KV pharmaceutical to lower their prices. These halfway measures are only benefitting "big business," right?

And, as is almost always the case, you can't be further from the truth. Are there issues with the system? Absolutely. But to suggest that the general rule is that companies need the government's help to corner a market is ludicrous. The government can prevent monopolies, a free market can't.3/9/2011 7:35:11 PM |

That cat is about to die.
Seriously though, I have this cat that keeps coming inside the apartment for food and shelter and she is very nice and sweet and loves to be held.
The only problem is that we already have 2 dogs and 2 cats, so we dont really want to take in another animal.
Does anyone want it ? 3/9/2011 8:26:43 PM |

AndyMac, the drug companies fuck us over so they can afford to make deals with poor countries and countries with socialized medicine or single-payer health insurance; their cheap drugs come off the backs of our own insurance companies and uninsured people. 3/9/2011 8:34:47 PM |

odds are that I have a weak opinion, if one, on obamacare and its implications. i haven't read the bill, much like most of the morons who voted on it. and most mainstream sources will just spout out random bullshit for/against it, etc., etc. Sure, I could look up a neutral source and read all about it, but I have neither the time nor care at this point. Not to mention, anyone who speaks of the economics and implications is speaking on speculation, bias, etc. as no one can predict exactly what will happen; nor can the government typically get a money/program forecast correct (whether it be unintended, conspiracy, earmarks, abuse, etc.)
Yes, I think health care should be affordable to all; no, I don't agree with creating state run health care (not saying this happened, mind you) or a massive spending spree via taxpayer dollars to pay for it. In short, I'm not educated enough on the subject or economics to provide any type of payment plan, which I imagine would be some taxpayer money, some private money, and investigations into why we pay so much for health care. Moreover, I do support legislation limiting the shitfuck insurance companies from fucking people over via pre-existing conditions, unreasonable premiums, etc. Normally I disagree with government interference in the marketplace; however, when an entire industry (keeping in mind banks as well) is fucking everyone, then something must be done.
In full disclosure, even though I stated that I know little of the healthcare law, I am generally against and/or weary of any large government program/far reaching law, etc. Big governments are not a good thing, thus I'm generically opposed to the healthcare law, until I can educate myself on it. That being said, I'm against pretty much any new law unless it is absolutely necessary; other than those that are relatively basic and reinstate/clarify existing freedoms.
