Figured I would make a general thread.

Anyways. I have a 94 Buick Park Ave stranded with a ruined starter. Looking for someone able to come to location with tools and equipment (I will purchase the part) to take out the bad and put in the new.

PM me for details and/or labor estimates.

Is it grinding or just nothing? Are you near NCSU?

It is grinding. Car is currently in the parking deck across from Meredith. Under the Brickhouse.

Put a wrench on the crank pulley bolt and turn the motor clockwise slightly. The starter may catch a new tooth on the flywheel and crank over. Keep the wrench in the car, you can play this game for a while but you'll probably need both a new starter and flywheel.

I did try to turn the engine a little and crank it. I got it to turn over maybe once in all the times I tried it. Felt like I was doing more harm than good so I gave up on that.

Oh, alright. A new starter may not help you. I suppose we could tie a rope to it and drag it out of there so you can have it towed.
