how do I dispute a parking ticket in Raleigh?
I can only find how to pay it on the city website... how convenient

are you disputing that you should have been able to park where you did because there was a chain there? from the diagram it seems like you were clearly in the no parking zone

the sign on the right, to me, would indicate there is no parking from the sign, all the way to the corner intersection at Hargett St

no, id like to dispute it. if there were no parking there, why wouldnt they put the sign behind the old entrance. The reason its chained off is because the other side is now parking spaces

ok if the arrows are reversed i think you have a good case

only thing they could accuse you of is blocking an entrance, but if that particular entrance is nearly always chained up, you can probably get out of this

I know you still want to dispute it but just incase you didn't know ANY entrance or driveway is still considered as such whether its chained off, blocked with dirt, or an actual usable entrace to somewhere. Right where you parked and where that blazer is is still considered an entrance by the Raleigh parking maids. It just depends on how dickish or lenient the parking meter person is case by case even though it's clearly breaking the law but no one could realistically use it as an entrance.

if that is the case I will pay the ticket, but would recommend to them that they move the sign. I lived in that area for a long time and parked there a lot. Im thinking the only reason I got a ticket was because the meter maids were out for the St. Pattys day parade.

i would dispute it, and hopefully you'll win. Sadly I've disputed several tickets (of which i was in the right about 50% of the time) and have never won. Shit you'll be lucky to hear back anything at all the way these assholes work.

in DC you dont have to pay while you dispute a parking or camera ticket. if its that way in raleigh, you dont really have anything to lose by disputing it if it's reasonable.

^^I'm pretty sure Raleigh isn't that way, though I haven't gotten a ticket in Raleigh in over 7 years so I could be wrong.

Fun fact, I got a $115 parking ticket in NYC one week before I moved back to Raleigh....I sure as hell did not pay that ticket.

give them a call - I had them drop a parking ticket for parking near Rapid Fitness by just calling. I explained my case and asked where to bring pictures and whatnot. They just said "don't worry, we believe you" and dropped the ticket.

I got a parking ticket across from campus once for parking too close to a drive way. I went online to dispute it, however when I put in the ticket number it came up as an invalid number. I waited a few weeks and kept checking, before i called in to see what the problem was. The guy said that that was a hand written ticket, and takes time to put in, but if I gave him all the information, he would put it in the system for me. I quickly hung up, and never heard anything about the ticket again.

I disputed a ticket like 5 days before it had to be paid or disputed. They mailed the response and said NO, and now the fee is $50. If I disputed it before the 21 day mark, why am I still having to pay the "late" fee of $50, instead of $30 like it should be...

I submitted a dispute and never heard back, just ended up paying it on the final due date to prevent further charges.
