Whole Foods (hot bar, sushi) & Neo Monde are my staples.
Just about any sub shop can make something decent if you skip the cheese, fatty meats, and high calorie dressings.
Sometimes it's all about what you get, not where you get it. Went to a lunch with co-workers today at an Italian place. Just about everybody else had a plate of carbs, sauce, & cheese, but I got salad w/balsamic vinaigrette and a nice piece of salmon.
On the road I look for healthy snacks at the gas station to sustain me until I get a meal or I just go to the grocery store. I have no aversion to cold soup, so that's usually easy to grab with a piece of fruit and drink. I know that sounds odd to most people, but after years of camping, eating on the boat, etc. I really enjoy it cold. I eat it that way 90% of time at home so I don't see it as a sacrifice.
Supermarket delis can be a good place to eat in a pinch.

Living in a small town sucks for this reason. Eating healthy means going to Subway or a severely overpriced restaurant. ugh 3/29/2011 5:34:35 PM |
