yeah, i do think it has to be a 2 part movie though at least. cleave it in twain. from the beginning leaving to arrive on dune, the plotting and uncertainness, up through the end of the betrayal before the mother and son join the fremen. With the second being more of the return movie having them ascend in importance among the fremen, conducting their guerilla war, and finally overcoming the emperor himself.

that one was almost too long, (7 hours i think?) plus their budget was on the lower side, though i liked a lot of their elements (some of the set designs, costumes etc.)

I'm thinking NO to the sound guns.

And no to the amount/quality of SFX they used in the mini-series.

Obviously some have to be used, but c'mon.

I think it would be cool to see Alicia Witt in it.

I guess I’d give it a 7/10. Maybe if i were one of folks that considers this a cult classic type thing, 8/10. Maybe after reading wikipedia it would be better and make more sense

i had to watch some videos to understand more. Like guns aren't a thing because of the personal shield technology everyone has now, so sword fighting is thing again.

I tried reading the book but really struggled to stay interested. I liked the movie though. Oddly, I played the MS-DOS game a lot in the 90s so I was familiar with most of the main characters. Oscar Isaac's beard was magnificent.

Regarding their personal shields -- so it stops high velocity objects/projectiles, right? There were a few cases when they shot things at them that hit the shield then slowly "drilled" through to kill them -- why didn't they use more of those? And while the dart or whatever it is was drilling, couldn't the person getting shot grab it and pull it away?

how does one get a large group of people onto a Sandworm? I already Google'd how to get off of one.

Also, those thumpers look pretty fancy only to be eaten by worms every use. Especially when journeys take multiple worms.
